2K Sports to Rock Video Game Consoles with
Major League Baseball® 2K10 Soundtrack

Pearl Jam, Phoenix, The Sugarhill Gang and many more to get fans pumped for the virtual baseball season

February 17, 2010 - As anticipation for the baseball season begins to build, 2K Sports is bringing the heat by unveiling the music soundtrack for Major League Baseball® 2K10, the next iteration of the popular Major League Baseball® 2K series. Featuring an eclectic array of sounds chosen to enhance the virtual baseball experience, the artists selected for this season range from rock legends Pearl Jam* and Social Distortion, to rap pioneers The Sugarhill Gang and Black Sheep, along with popular up-and-coming acts such as Cage the Elephant and Phoenix.

"I couldn't have put together a better soundtrack that reflects the spirit of baseball fans if I created it myself," said Evan Longoria, All-Star third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays® and cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K10. "Every game needs a killer soundtrack, and that's what we definitely have in Major League Baseball 2K10."

Beyond its mix of musical genres, the Major League Baseball 2K10
soundtrack also received some assistance in the selection process by Longoria himself, who helped to hand-pick the inclusion of the hard-rock band, Tantric. Longoria's personal favorite Tantric song, "Down and Out", will also serve as his walk up song throughout the actual MLB season. In a unique partnership between SPIN magazine and 2K Sports, bands also had the opportunity to participate in a special contest to be featured in Major League Baseball 2K10. The gritty indie
funk band hailing from San Diego, Hotel St. George, was selected as this year's contest winner. The Grammy award-winning French alternative rock band, Phoenix, and their new single "Lisztomania" will also make its way on the soundtrack to get fans pumped for the game.

Fans can now listen to all of the featured songs online at

Wow, that's actually a damn good soundtrack. I LOVE "Go Faster" and it's awesome to see Black Sheep being used!

That's one of the best soundtracks I've seen in a sports game. Well done.

They should have found a way to add more bands that start with "Black" though. Black Sabbath FTW!

This is a great choice of songs! I was actually going to have The Fixer (was debating putting on Force of Nature) and Every Time You Turn Around already, but it sounds like they know what they're doing.

I'm surprised I never considered Judas though, good job 2K!

Very nice list of music. I generally like their choices for baseball games. I also liked the soundtrack for the Bigs as well!

Anyone who's been to a Rays Game or any Rays' Head knows that Tantric is Evan Longoria's Walk-Up Song. It has been since he was called up!

I hate Daughtry too, but I'm pretty sure MVP 2004 was the game that had "Tessie" in it. I could've done without that song.

As for 2K 10's soundtrack, it is pretty freaking good. Hopefully the music isn't the highlight of the game's enjoyment for me.

MVP 05 had Tessie since Manny was on the cover. 04's soundtrack was one of my favorites, though this one looks good.
