I'm not happy about it either. This is what Fight Night and KO Kings has gone through every year and it's never easy. Contracts are signed with fighters for a certain period of time and when they expire, we can't be certain we'll be able to reach another agreement with any of them.

- Some boxers were signed to deals over 3 years ago when things were pretty different, financially-speaking.

- All of the boxers that we lost were contacted, some of them several times by myself personally.

- I'm not kidding when I say this, sometimes we just don't hear back. Even from people we worked with previously.

- I personally had communications with one boxer - and his three different managers - over the course of 6 months.

- Arturo Gatti died under very suspicious circumstances. Sorry that we weren't able to re-do that contract in the wake of that. We would have signed him for an extra 2 years way back if we had known he was going to die.

- Some guys we had to drop because of a lawsuit last year, you might recall.

- Sometimes we have have verbal agreements in place with guys we really want and because of time-pressures we spend thousands of dollars making them. Only to have them make further demands, attempt to renegotiate, or simply fail to send us signed paperwork. So poof! They're off the roster and we just burned that money. I can tell you how much Mike looooooves that.

- Some guys just have unrealistic demands.

Now, I know you probably don't care about this. The game doesn't have some of the guys you want, end of story. But like I've been saying for years, its not like boxing is chock-full of stand-up guys accustomed to a strict code of business ethics - nor is it populated by an abundance of athletes with a realistic perception of their brand value and/or mainstream appeal.

NOTE: Some guys are absolutely great. Very professional and very helpful.

All I'm saying is, we try our best and we didn't make the business of professional boxing an absolute clusterf**.

Really looking forward to this game.

I'm sure people will make very good created versions of fighters not in the game through Fighter Share.

It's a hell of a lot harder to get a lot of these boxers into a game like this because there isn't really an organization that they all can fall under. An example of this is EA Sports MMA as EA was able to get Strikeforce as an organization & have majority of their prominent fighters in game, but Fight Night Champion has to sign many of these fighters on an individual basis to appear in the game if I'm not mistaken.

Where's Floyd?

I'm interested in online gyms. Maybe they'll have parties like EA MMA did with their fight cards? I hope so.

It must get on the guys at ea's nerve when people think they don't put Floyd in on purpose.

# 13 bigsmallwood @ 12/09/10 04:01 PM
Floyd Mayweather probably wants a huge amount of $$$ and the cover and that is why he is not in the game...just me speculating. Either way it is disappointing that he is not in the game.

No doubt! If Haseem Rahman (reportedly) said that for the only way for him to be in FNR4 was to be on the cover AND have the game named after him, I can only imagine what Mayweather is asking for.

I think it'd be a bit different if there was one governing body that EA had to pay to get rights to boxers, but I'm not positive that that's the case. Don't quote me, but I believe it is based on compensating the individual boxers. Don't get me wrong...it would be awesome to have Mayweather shipped with the game, but since that seems like a wild dream I'll just do like I did with FNR4 and download a well done CAB version from the share.

don't disrespect correlles they are just paying homage to a champ that died to early. chico would still be fighting now if he wasn't in that car crash

That's precisely how it works. Boxing doesn't have a players union like baseball, hockey or football. So instead of dealing with one governing body, they have to seek out each individual boxer and purchase their rights.

And maybe a moderator has to put a sticky thread up, but Floyd isn't in the game because he wanted the game named after him and wanted more money than all the other boxers combined!
According to some of the community members, EA reached out to the man personally but he wouldn't budge on his demands.

So if anyone has a problem with Floyd not being in the game contact Floyd Mayweather about it. It wasn't EA's decision to exclude him from the game.

# 18 DaveDQ @ 12/09/10 04:46 PM
EA Sports, the company that puts Tiger Woods on their Golf game, paid a bunch of money for the NFL exclusive, features top of the line athletes on their sports titles....don't you think they'd at least try and get Floyd?

EA would love to be able to have him on their cover. Make no mistake about it. This is probably on Floyd.

No super middles, but at least they have Kendall Holt and a few others that are decent.

It's nice to see I can take my legacy mode fighter online.

That was nice of him to explain it. I'm happy with the roster. Nice to see Zab on there.
