Madden NFL 13 News Post

According to Joystiq, we should see the first Madden NFL 13 title update on September 11th. No details were given.

In Madden NFL 12 we saw two title updates and were promised tuner sets that never arrived.

Let's hope the Madden team can deliver the goods this year.

UPDATE: Just received word from EA Sports. The September 11th date is not confirmed. No specific date can be provided regarding updates until they have been approved by first parties.

Quote:
"The team is absolutely committed to post-launch support, and we will make it a point to keep you updated on title updates, tuner sets, roster updates, new Madden Moments Live and more," EA said in a statement to Joystiq. Providing the Madden team sticks to its goals, Madden 13 is likely to receive more post-launch support out of the gate than last year's game had entirely.

We've been told to have faith since the next gen. For some reason every year we've been let down and told that it would be addressed in next years version. I don't think anyone is panicking but trying to figure out if we should buy the game. Bottom line we all want to enjoy madden and want EA to deliver a complete game.

The potential is there, but sheesh, it's been there since next gen began in 05!

Bugs will always exist. But the constant lack of testing just leads to do many issues.

If in my job I would be so careless not only would I be sued, but I would be outright let go. But yet year after year..there is one thing that's we can always count on.... A madden game with issues that are discovered within in hours of playing but yet not corrected in development.
And I'm not talking just jersey numbers cuz I now know how to fix it. And just that process is a chore. You mean to tell me nobody noticed this sooner and said " hey, check this out!". ?

C'mon man....
Don't all anticipated releases come with a need to be patched routinely? Why do we continue to attack Madden when others get a pass?

Unlike other games, Madden is the only football game out there. If we don't like COD we can play Battlefield or other shooter games. With Madden we have no other choice if we want to play a football game using NFL teams. Then there's the issue of getting so close but taking away things that weren't broke and only added to the value of the game (editing players this year). It seems like every year that make strides forward but don't pay attention to detail allowing stupid mistakes that take away from the game. If they would fix these with patches there would be no worries but they don't patch all major issues.

Of most games I've played, Madden is routinely and by far in the worst shape each year at release.

You make a fair point re: Madden being the only NFL release though is that enough reason to crucify developers marking them differently to other developers if only because they own the market? The same blood, sweat and tears goes in to the Madden franchise regardless.

I don't pretend to not understand the frustrations of the majority here though I still believe it's a mass over reaction given again - the game's official release date is yet to tick over.

I wouldn't say it's a mass over reaction, just disappointment and frustration at the loop that is madden. High hopes, being let down, hoping issues will be patched, let down once again, hoping next year is better, then repeat.

Not sure what games you're playing that need to have as many things patched as Madden does each year.

Our reliance on patches are another reason we need the exclusive licensing deals to disappear. Until competition is back, I don't envision a full/complete release of a bug-free Madden game. EA has the ability to sit back, use customers as QA, and then take their time with fixes.

The Blue Names are right here on this one. Every game that comes out has a patch associated with it to address something. And I don't know what you are all so mad about? I have had the same early release you all have and while I've had the some of the same problems they aren't that big of a deal. I believe the issues that are most important to keeping the game stable will be patched as well as some of the well known issues most of you are complaining about. And I also have no doubt that they will attack the problems rather than sitting back this time. It's all new territory for the most part wit the newest members of the dev team so and they have already made several tweets posts and what not saying they are going to support this game a lot better than the previous team. So sit back enjoy what works and play with the IE and have a little fun for a change with this game. It's going to be for sale tomorrow just most of us so wait till then to dive real deep into it.
