He was talking about Rondo obviously, and I think that's way too high.

75 midrange ?

low shot in traffic ? these are two things he excels in, why gimp him in those areas ?

a more realistic approach would be to keep everything high BUT make his consistency low.

edit : nvm you were referring to Rondo.

Probably because he is an Olypmian. That is the only reason I can think of.

For Melo to come out as a 92, his defensive ratings must be highly overrated.

O if its for rondo then it should be from 70-73 Midrange.. 75 is to high for rondo for midrange..

I'd give him a 65. He's still terrible.

70 and over is practically automatic when you have a high offensive awareness.

I agree with 65, like someone else. In 2k12 I've seen people make escape dribble and step back shots with Rondo, that needs to stop lol.

I love people who watch SportsCenter and then give their scouting report of players. Blake has "no moves in his arsenal" besides the dunk? Blake actually has some of the best footwork out of all the young forwards in the League.

I can do it too. All Kobe does is shoot contested fadaways from 15+ feet. He literally has no other moves in his arsenal. All Durant can do is jack 3's and mindrange, and he only makes them cause he's so tall. All Melo does is jack post fadaways. Yada, yada, yada...

You must not have watched him in the Playoffs. Understandable considering you're a Bulls fan.

Knew that was coming. Actually i'am huge cetlics & Rondo fan. He has the most inconsistent jumper of all time.

Basically if you give him 70 or 75 that means he's gona make every shot where he's open, and we know he doesn't. Or he doesn't even take most of thoses open shot oportunities.

Knicks are my favorite team, and Melo is one of my favorite players, but a 92 overall rating is a f---ing joke. Melo was rated properly in the high 80's, considering he's an average defender and rebounder for his size, and a below-average playmaker. Melo is a scorer, point blank, and one of the best and his rating should reflect that. Let me guess: Dirk is probably still gonna be in the low 80's too, right?

I probably shouldn't get so caught up in the overall ratings, considering 2K values different attributes much differently. 2K really values speed, and they always rate Melo as one of the fastest SF's in the game. 2K will also probably give Melo a 95+ offensive awareness rating, even though Melo is not a great playmaker. Whatever...if Durant is rated as 95 and Kobe 93, then at least the inflated scale is consistent.

In the end, the Overall (OVR) rating does not matter, that mainly shows the prestige of the basketball player. Even if Melo is 92 overall, I would still take an 81-83 overall Gerald Wallace over him. Wallace is the better player despite the overall rating, Melo just has higher shooting percentage.

Think about it
Please get out of this forum with that nonsense....you disgust me.

I'm not sure you understand my post. But I agree with you.

I believe 2K has tweaked their rating system this year. As long as Melo is not a lockdown defender or streaky I am ok. As long as Kobe is a volume shooter and not a very high percentage I am ok with it. If Rondo doesn't start to hit jumpers all day I don't care.

Rondo current 2K12 living roster 86 2K13 90. That is a huge jump so they must have bumped up his shooting from his playoff play or tweaked what the ratings mean. I hope they don't have Rondo making crazy amounts of jumpers because of what he did in the playoffs. I mean the rest of his attributes are maxed out for passing, and defense.

Melo current 2K12 living roster 90 2K13 92. Minor bump up I will wait to see what changed in his individual ratings Melo had a stronger late half of 2012 but overall I think he had a down year. His defensive effort improved a little but I will wait to see how he plays to judge.

Kobe current 2K12 living roster 94 2K13 93. Minor bump down. Kobe is showing a decline up in age but probably should be the 2 or first SG. His midrange is slighly higher than what it really should be. You take away some of his dunking ability/ dunking package and give him and very few others the post footwork it will be spot on.

Agreed. It's been too long that Rondo was garbage in 2K. The problem is that the passing rating in 2K is pretty much useless. You could average 15+ assists just as easy with Pape Sy as you could with Rondo. And when 2K made the speed rating useless and straight-up layups the most difficult shot to make in in 2K12, it pretty much made Rondo nothing but a defensive specialist.

Obviously these are overall ratings and they don't mean much, but I think Melo being a 92 isn't all that wrong. At least based on the second half of the season and previous seasons, if I had to rate him last January I'd say 80 is generous.

I'm hoping now that they've got a better system and a couple decent passing point guards, Melo can finally thrive all season long. He may or may not be the best scorer in the league, but there's no denying that he can consistently carry his team to victories, especially in fourth quarters, and that's not something that a lot of guys can do, and I think is what earns him his high rating.

Yeah, he takes bad shots, yeah he could probably score more efficiently if he took it to them rim more, but I'd still take Melo shooting that fadeaway jumper over two guys rather than him passing it to JR or baron or wide open landry fields. That being said, I think Melo proved to be pretty good passer last season, even though his apg numbers don't really back that up. I think given the chance he could even play the point forward role effectively.

He also played pretty hard defensively under woodson, and he's always been a decent 1on1 defender, it's just that the effort has never really been there, but there's no rating for that in 2k to bring his overall down.

I believe Lin's rating went up simply since he was playing better than expected. It's as simple as that. You can't say that's not true.

That's why I said I can't empathize with online ranked guys because I don't play that. That's why it's not that big a deal to me specifically.

But the issue should be with how certain attributes affect OVR and how they affect gameplay rather than the OVR itself. Just because a guy has a high OVR doesn't mean people are going to dominate with him if 2K addresses other parts of the game. If gameplay is tight, a high OVR doesn't mean everything.
