Why do you guys care about overall ratings?

# 102 Biagas @ 09/17/12 12:38 PM
It's whatever, its like this every year. I will say KG is much better than griffin Bosh Amare dirk and duncan.

And lebron shot 36% from 3 but look at the volume. He didn't even average 1 make per game. Obviously with more attempts his % would drop back to ~33% where is usually is.

I have a problem with several ratings. Jason kidd, anthony davis, kemba walker and some others are rated higher than tyson chandler. bosh should be higher than amare to start the season. i dont understand lin with floor general. TP should be higher then manu as well.

did you watch dirks play last season, he struggled horribly, gasol product has been down as well, but dirk just plain out sucked after winning the title!

Are you serious? Pau and Amare are clearly better than Bosh. Pau can do everything and more than Bosh can do on offense and is a better defender and rebounder. Amare is a FAR superior defender and can also do everything, if not more than Bosh can do on offense.

Maybe the 81 overall running back ran behind a solid Offensive Line. NBA 2K Insider knows what he is doing, and I admit the rating scale should be tweaked but it is the player's ATTRIBUTES that are nearly accurate to represent the counterpart of basketball player on the court.

For instance:

Lopez (80 OVR) [Considered Overrated]
Inside Game: A-
Outside Game: F
Perimeter Defense: F
Post Defense: B+
Ball Handling: F
Rebounding: B- [Weakness]
IQ: B+

Roy Hibbert (79 OVR) [2012 ALL STAR]
Inside Game: B
Outside Game: F
Perimeter Defense: F
Post Defense: A-
Ball Handling: F
Rebounding: B [Better than Lopez]
IQ: A-

Tyson Chandler (77 OVR) [DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR]
Inside Game: C+ [Weakness]
Outside Game: F
Perimeter Defense: C
Post Defense: A
Ball Handling: F
Rebounding: A-
IQ: B+

Chandler and Hibbert are both better than Lopez according to those letter grades. Lopez just has a better Inside Game.
Well, in that case, I'm inclined to disagree with the individual attributes. IMO, TC should be an A/A+ rebounder whereas Brook Lopez should certainly NOT be anywhere near a B+ in Post Defense - more like a C. I don't care if he blocks a shot or two per game, his help defense is subpar and he's too soft too have much of an effect defensively. I also think his inside game might be a bit overrated, but that's probably opinion more than anything else. This is coming from a Nets fan, btw

Maybe Bosh is listed at center. Thats probably why his rating is like that.

That statement is wrong. Using their most recent season (for Brook Lopez 2 years ago)

Brook Lopez:

At Rim:248/396 62.6%

Tyson Chandler:

At Rim:222/293 76%

Amare is one of the worst defenders in the league. For you to say he's far superior than Bosh makes me question if you even watch basketball.

This is good to see, so players are not on the teams anymore but thanks for the new info

For you to say Amare is one of worst defenders in the league, we should all question if you watch basketball...

i

I'll wait for you to post any statistics or even visual evidence that proves Amare isn't horrible.

I'll die waiting but it's worth it.

Proves my point further :P I was too lazy to get the stats up. I will admit that Lopez is probably better at creating his own shot, though, and a lot Chandler's points were probably assisted.

I'm not saying Chandler is lightyears ahead of Lopez, but it's hard to deny he's the better overall player.
