NBA Live 13 News Post

NBA Live 13 has been canned, kicked to the curb, canceled, put out to pasture. However you want to put it, NBA Live 13 is no more.

Below is a statement from EA Sports Executive Vice President, Andrew Wilson.

Quote:
After a lot of consideration, we have made the decision to not launch NBA LIVE 13. I'd like to give you a bit of perspective.

When we started the process of bringing back NBA LIVE, we knew it was going to be a long journey. We started by moving the game to a new studio. We brought in some of the best new technology that has helped fuel innovation in our other games. We launched an even deeper level of engagement with our community to gather more feedback directly from fans. And we built a whole new development team to bring it all to life. We felt like we were on the right path.

We also made a commitment to deliver a high quality experience — this is what our fans expect and what we demand of ourselves at EA SPORTS. But making great games is not easy, and we're just not there yet on NBA LIVE 13. Having continued to look at the game over the past few days, it's clear that we won't be ready in October. And rather than launch midway through the season, we're going to sit out the full year and stay focused on making next year’s game great. This decision puts us on the right track for success well into the future in a rapidly changing industry.

I'm disappointed that we have not yet met our high expectations with NBA LIVE, but I remain motivated about where we're going. We're committed to delivering new innovation in online, and our progress in the visual presentation of the game continues to take big strides. We also know that a great game starts with great gameplay, and this remains a huge priority for us.

This wasn't an easy decision, but it's the right one for our fans. I hope you'll agree when you're able to play the game next year.

Andrew Wilson
Executive Vice President, EA SPORTS

Didn't they say that for NBA Elite 11?

RIP EA basketball.

I don't know if I should shake my head or roll on the floor laughing.

EA really screwed up this franchise. Wow.

Not really surprised. But, it is sad on so many fronts. Namely, competition.

I wonder if they will use the same boot up screen next year?

No ****ing way! LOL! What a year for EA!

Not remotely surprised. Too bad, all the time in the world and still nothing. Least they aren't going to sucker people into paying 20 bucks for a broken flawed game like they could have.

Time to make a college game. Even if it sucks, I'd buy it.

Is this similar to when Triple Play Bassball died??

Who bumped the Elite 11 thread?

LMAO. Can't say that I'm surprised. I don't know what I'm gonna do now though. For the past two years I've had the hardest time controlling my player in NBA 2K. It's like the controller has no sensitivity and all of my movements are clunky. I tried to buy another controller to fix the problem, but it didn't do anything. I'm not sure what the issue is because I never had problems in any of the other games. I almost think something is up with my Xbox, but I've bought so many of them that I don't want to shell out for another one. NBA 2K is the only game I have that gives me problems.

Live looked like it sucked, but I was thinking about breaking down and getting it if I had to. I guess I'm just out of luck with NBA games for a while.

Lmao.

I do feel bad for the 5 guys on this site that couldn't wait to get their hands on it.

EA might as well dead the franchise until Next gen so they're not putting together another piss poor effort like what debuted for this current generation.

I'll never forget this commercial/trailer and how EA never put together a game that resembled it.

Yeah I wish they would bring a college game back, I loved the 2k college series but I would buy an EA NCAA game because I miss college basketball games.

No prob. I'll just keep playing NBA Live 10 with updated rosters from people who still play it!
What can I say? The only bball game I actually had fun playing before it was College Hoops 2k8.

This is like Greg Oden's injury news all over again.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I wasn't going to buy nor support this game...but to see this happen, I honestly thought they'd put something out. Shocked. I played Live all the way up until Live 08 and haven't looked back. I'm SMH at those at EA who have allowed this once great franchise to fall. Terrible. Unfortunate for those that will and would support this game. My heart goes out to the fans. Damn.

Like we didn't see this coming... Sad sad day for EA.

Give the 2k13 demo a try...it's a whole new ballgame in terms of player movement.

I think most already knew NBA Live had to 'call Tyrone' a few months back. Maybe they'll start interacting with the community during this absence?
