Early Adopters Receive NINJA MASTER'S Game Card, While Supplies Last

Tommo, Inc., in partnership with SNK PLAYMORE, today announced the NEOGEO X GOLD Limited Edition entertainment system. The NEOGEO X GOLD Limited Edition will include a limited edition game card to accompany the 20 classic NEOGEOŽ AES games already pre-loaded on the NEOGEO X Handheld, at no additional cost.

Early adopters and fans who reserve the highly anticipated NEOGEO X GOLD Limited Edition (from participating retailers) on or before its worldwide release date of December 6, 2012 will receive a limited edition NINJA MASTER'S game card for use with the NEOGEO X Handheld, while supplies last.

Originally released in arcades and on the NEOGEO console in 1996, NINJA MASTER'S features 12 playable characters, and lightning-fast 2D fighting action that allows players to switch between hand-to-hand and weapon-based combat on the fly, offering huge combo counts and multiple styles of play. I actually was one of the few that purchased the NeoGeo system when it was first released. The system was like 600 dollars and I will never forget those massive cartridges and the 180 dollar price tag on each game!

but is it just me or does 200 dollars still seems pretty steep to play games that are about 20 years old?!?

That is very steep and can't believe they are charging that much. Should probably be $100 or less for this.

Huge rip-off. No way in hell I would spend $200 on something so outdated and obviously no longer supported with new titles. I'd honestly be hard-pressed to spend $50 on this.

If it was an SNES compilation, or say Dreamcast, I'd consider.

But seriously... $200...

NeoGeo sure thinks highly of themselves.

If i was able to load some old nes ROMS on there then fine, but 20 games for this price is a complete joke. Im not even into handheld gaming but would buy a Vita in a second over this.

Older guys dont either, and arent sentimental enough with this to pay that much...

I agree...the market of people who played Neo Geo originally is so small that I have no idea who will buy this.

I have never "gotten" the Neo Geo hype at all anyways, seems like a crazy expensive system for a few fighting games that 99% of gamers never played or cared about.

Extremely small. I walked into Rite Aid and saw an Atari 2600 on the shelf. If they can sell that system in their store what makes the neo geo people think this is worth the price of admission

They'd be better off making it live arcade games and so on unless they make each of these systems as they're ordered because this makes zero sense

I think most people who try and relive the glory days through Video games become very upset that they tried. Unless you never played another video game from when you originally had a NEOGEO, you will be really pissed you spent $200 on this...

Hell I tried to play DOOM 3 BFG the other day and was shocked at how badly it aged, that game itself made 99.99% of PCs obsolete.

About the only franchise that I really enjoyed from SNK has to be Metal Slug. Their fighting games were ok, but nothing special.

So there is no justifiable reason this machine should be priced that high

Either lower it significantly or fail massively

I still think a good chunk of the price tag is coming from the arcade joystick...those things don't come cheap. Probably should have been sold seperately.

Agree with 23 though, with the bundle as it stands now.

You should note that of those 80 games, only half are Genesis games, there's also a portable for the same price with mostly the same games, but also has Street Fighter 2 and Mega Man.
