Need help picking a team in NCAA 14? Here's a guide...

If you are still trying to decide upon a dynasty team or if you are completely new to the college game, we have written some dynasty getting started guides for each major conference and for some BCS busters.

Each guide contains the team's systems they run in real-life as well as some positives and negatives about each as a dynasty destination:

Florida State Seminoles
Offense: Multiple (HB, 3 WR, TE)
Defense: 4-3

(+) HB Mario Freeman should be the face of the 'Noles at season's end.
(+) LB Christian Jones returns from an All-Conference year in '12 to lead the defense.
(-) A freshman at quarterback may be the weak link of the team.
(-) The loss of big-name NFL draft picks on the defensive line will be tough to ignore.

I think you combined Mario Pender (#7 RS freshman) with Devonta Freeman (#8 Junior).

In either event, I think James Wilder will be the teams leading rusher. Good guide though. I'm enjoying reading through it.

Love most of your guide. GT's secondary is actually one of the ACC's best though. Team's D was greatly improved after Al Groh was fired and GT finished off the season very well defensively.

There needs to be a correction with UF's offense. They don't run a spread anymore. They're a pro style offense with a heavy run emphasis. Brent Pease, who came from Boise St, has multiple sets, one back, I-form, pistol, etc, but the Spread offense isn't one of them. I've also been playing the early release and of what I've seen so far they have the best playbook IMO. I'm a USC guy but I really like the diversity that their playbook has and if anyone's looking for a good playbook to use in custom playbook, I'd highly recommend theirs.

Offense: Multiple (HB, 3 WR, TE)
Defense: 4-3

(+) Jordan Matthews leads the best wide receiver group in the SEC.
(+) Seeking the rare feat of back-to-back bowl game appearances.
(-) Lucky breaks from 2012 won't mean much inside your console.
(-) Bottom line is they lack overall talent and depth to build on last year's success.

In my opinion, I believe Vanderbilt got a little snubbing in the ratings this year. Still fun to beat people online with them.

A freshman QB probably won't be the weak link for FSU unless Jameis Winston is a complete bust.

At one point, Texas Tech had the #2 defense in the country last season. Not sure how they're weak.

Did some more digging and updated to Multiple. According to comments made by Driskel to SI, they actually want to pass more this year so their heavy running from 2012 isn't something they necessarily want to adopt as an identity.

Also keep in mind that "Spread" offense doesn't mean pass, it's just a generic term for the primary personnel group, but I agree that "Multiple" is a better fit. There are even "Spread Pro" sets that some teams run (Oklahoma). But even on defense it sounds like Florida could bounce between a 3-4 and 4-3 -- the main point is that no one really knows. Muschamp is pretty deceptive about what the team's alignments are going to be so we'll all learn once the season starts up.

I hear you. Multiple is a better definition of what they plan on running. I was basing my comment on what I saw last year which was run heavy. The games that I watched Florida against FSU, A&M, and LSU they rellied a lot on the run. Some of there biggest plays were with counter treys as well. Again year to year teams try to find their identity based of personel but I have a feeling that being in SEC country they'll still rely on a huge run presence. Balance is always a huge key to success... I hope my Trojans will redefine themselves with more balance this year as well! Fight On!

I tried to focus more on the base personnel groups instead of the philosophy. It is worth noting that they will utilize a pass-heavy (air raid) attack which definitely sets them apart from most teams.

Bowling Green will be a team to watch out for! Bring back almost everyone and coach Dave Clawson is doing a great job there! Losing the MAC freshman of the year last year at Running Back wil be the only thing that will hurt the Falcons, I see them being MAC champs this year

FSU doesn't have a Mario Freeman, we have a Devonta Freeman, who is our 1A starting RB along with James Wilder Jr who is our 1B RB. We also have Mario Pender, who is a redshirt freshman who will get some carries this year.

Probably has something to do with them playing no name state university, Texas State, New Mexico, and Iowa State the first four games...

Yes...fun game against y'all last year. Techs secondary is actually pretty good. It's the front 7 that is the problem. It's hard to play pass defense when you aren't getting any pressure.

Good job on the guide, pretty good insight on all teams. For Iowa though, they run a 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB set now and are no longer a 2 WR, 2 TE, 1 RB set. I would say the offense is more of a Multiple look now. Will be interesting to see what Offensive Playbook they use in the game this year.

i have no idea how the Mountaineers managed to get a 87 def rating, they went 7-5 with the 122nd ranked scoring defense.
