The PS3 version offers everybody’s favorite local multiplayer that supports up to four players, as well as new features such as Real Feel Shot where you can swing your way through courses with your PlayStation Move motion controller.

What’s more, for those of you that own the PS Vita version, all of your downloadable content is cross-buy and will be unlocked in the PS3 version! The Vita patch version 1.06 will bring you up to speed with the PS3, enabling you to play with those on the PS3 version in the online tournaments.

What we think is one of the most exciting features is both PS Vita and PS3 can compete against each other online. And with such a vast array of online tournaments available, you’ll never be short of brand new online rivalries! Take advantage of the Level 4 and Level 5 clubs and balls to get the edge over your buddies!

I think they've expanded the tournament options a bit with this one.

I"m not a big fan of anime, arcade style golf games, but this series is so well produced and the physics are surprisingly good. I'll probably pick it up just to experience the presentation production, online multiplayer, and ball physics, while holding my nose for the anime goofiness. This one will have a Move option, which may be worth checking out now that I've got my SimStix in which to mount it.

remember the fun of upgrading clubs and balls to higher levels? well, the level 4 and 5 clubs and balls can only be obtained by paying for them as dlc... what's next putting a timer on the game and when your time is up having to pay more to play the game you already bought???

do
not
want

I downloaded it yesterday and played for a couple of hours. I actually like the "Advanced" swing interface from Hot Shots OOB better than the three that are offered in this game, but the "Circle" interface is close enough. It mostly feels like HSG OOB with new characters and courses though. I really didn't feel like I was playing a new game, although what's there is fun... and certainly $20 worth of fun.

EDIT: I've unlocked the "Advanced" swing interface which is pretty close to what OOB had. The only difference is that it still has a swing arc, it only has one graduation at 50%. OOB's Advanced swing interface didn't put the graduationless arc on the screen.

I'm just an average player and will never compete for any titles. I played in the first "Daily" today and even though I shot a 27 (-9), with my Novice player and stock equipment, I was still in 81st place out of 168 players!?

Do you use only the buttons to swing or can the analog stick be used as well.? Thanks.

It does not use the analog sticks for a swing interface option. I'm a bit surprised that they don't. This one does support the Move, which I've yet to try. I'll give it a go at some point, but honestly, I'm not expecting much from it.

I love this game! So much better and harder than HSG Out of Bounds, and for only 20 bucks? An absolute steal.

This was my first game, lots of room for improvement.

I've played in each of the "Dailies" and have really enjoyed them. They've all been only 9 holes so far, and that may be all we ever get. It's a focused competition though, as there is only one level and one tournament. I think each of them had close to a thousand players compete. I actually finished in the top third in my first Daily, with my Novice, Level 11 player. However, I'm in the bottom 10% in today's daily, after shooting a 1 under 35. I double-bogeyed the 8th hole, after hitting a perfect drive. Problem is I didn't aim the perfect drive where I should have aimed it, and had to try to play a hook around a tree, blocking the green... it didn't hook, and I went OB.

I've played a few of the "Real Tournaments" that go off about every 30 minutes, and they're pretty cool. I haven't been able to get a head-to-head or matchplay round yet though. I never see a multiplayer room set up, and when I create one, no one every joins. Maybe I'm just on at bad times?

Quite a bit, however I play on the Vita version and therefore cannot play with PS3 users in multiplayer lobby games (it IS crossplay, but only with Real Tournaments/Dailys). Just don't really have any desire to do all of the Challenge mode stuff again after platinuming on the Vita.

I don't really like that online went slightly "Pay to Win" with the introduction of level 4 + 5 equipment DLC (that you can't unlock for free), but I think the difference will really only show itself on the tougher courses. And I love the slots mode - so unpredictable and just the kind of wacky fun this series has provided for so long.

PSN is bcruise, same as on here.

First time I ever played the series and it is pretty fun. It is surprisingly realistic, despite the anime characters. I think this is more fun than Tiger Woods.

How do the real tourney's work? I understand the daily ones and I'll try one this afternoon.

Go into any of the lobbies, I usually go into the non-VIP lobby that has the most people in it, and call up the menu (I think you hit the triangle button to do this?). One of the options is Real Tournaments. Click on it and you're taken to a list of scheduled events. They're organized by golfer level (I'm a G3, but I'm not sure where that is on their overall levels). I'm able to join G3 and GF events, whatever GF means.

You can "book" a tournament by highlighting and committing to play in it by hitting "X". The tournaments go off about every 20 to 40 minutes (depending on 9 or 18 holes). You can go off and practice or play offline while waiting for your Real Tournament to start. You'll get serveral reminders while you're playing elsewhere that your tournament is about to start, at 30, 10, and 3 minutes out. If you're late and there's still room, you can enter as a "walk-in" inside of 3 minutes.

I played in two of them last night and they both had 30 players. You can see faintly colored balls of the other players as they play the hole, but they don't leave tracers like Tiger Woods 14, not that that bothers me, but 30 of them would create way too much clutter, as everyone is playing the same hole at the same time in HSGWI. When you've finished the hole, you can watch a status board showing scores, who holed out from what distance, leaderboard movement, and exchange text messages... it's pretty cool actually.

Nine including the one dlc course. Each course can be played in reverse as well.

I know a lot of people write this game off because of its cartoony appearance but I believe that it has better gameplay and physics than the Tiger Woods series. The anime voices can get annoying at times but luckily you can disable that in game.

I am looking to playing some online tournaments if anyone is interested. My PSN is jhamlin1971

Hope to see someone from this forum on there!

I have it for VITA, and played A LOT - but never tried the Daily's or real tournaments so I'm going to definitely try that out, sounds interesting and a change from the normal single player.

Depending how that goes, I may purchase for the PS3 just to have it on the big screen when I get the chances to play it there - I enjoy it enough on VITA so I don't know if it's necessary at the moment to make the plunge to PS3 version although $20 is a steal of the game.

As far as the physics, etc. vs. Tiger Woods - It actually holds up to Tiger however it's hard to say - I think they're about the same as far as faults between the games and real golf but just in different ways. I'ts been years since my last Tiger woods games but hitting out of the sand was always horrible. I think Hot shots has a better sand game to me and at the same time there are moments where I feel like the Hot Shots cheated me on a drive that ends up running into a bunker, landing in a bunker, or not making it across a water hazard when everything seems to point that it should have (wind, perfect impact, distance marker) - That's my biggest gripe with Hot Shots

Again 2 years since the last Tiger, but that Tiger and this Hotshots both are comparable in the whole hitting a tree - That's frustrating too to have the ball drop straight down pretty much when you glance a twig from a branch, lol.

Hot Shots is awesome though, I may get it just to see if I can get my wife to play because it's a very simple game as far as controls go that anyone can pick up and play and put together a decent round... But has enough intricacies and such in altering the swing/shots , etc. that are needed to really be able to put together great scores and compete.

I'm still enjoying HSGWI, so it wasn't just a passing fancy. I have (reluctantly) admit that I look forward to playing the HSGWI Daily online tournament than my own club tournaments in Tiger Woods 14. I do play in the "Real Tournaments" that are accessed via the online lobby and enjoy those as well. My gamertag is "rowjawuhtahs" if you ever see me online.

Maybe some of you HSG veterans can help me with something I just started experiencing in the game. All of the sudden, I started being really late in my button presses for both the swing strength and the "snap" point, no matter which swing gauge I used. It was so bad I thought my button was getting mushy on the controller. I tested the controller in other games and it seems to actuate with the same responsiveness as always.

I now find that I'm having to hit the button in an anticipatory manner than a reflex one to have a chance of having perfect impact. It works a good bit of the time, but it somehow feels a bit more like a guessing game than what my senses are telling me to do. Is it possible I've made some sort of progression that has changed that? I'd been using "Stuart" with the big air clubs and level 5 big air ball, and was managing that fine for two or three days FWIW, I'm a level 14 golfer. It just seems like there's been some sort of step change that I can't explain. I think I'll try playing as a novice character to see if this input lag is still there.

Great game, my Son and I both picked it up.

So glad this finally came to PS3. Love the Hot Shots games.

Only two negatives I've come across so far is that the swing mechanic from HSG: OOB is no longer available, and that the level 4 & 5 equipment is DLC only.

Advanced shot? It's still there, only now there's a bar next to your character that will show exactly how much power you have after you set impact - you still have to judge power by the backswing. Putting with it is exactly the same as OOB.

It's unlockable in the store "Others" at some point along with 2 other shot types. It might not appear in the beginning though, and I don't remember what triggers it. The Others part of the store will expand massively as you play through Challenge mode though - I know that much.

I hear you on the Lv. 4 and 5 DLC as it unbalances multiplayer. Fortunately you really only need to buy two Lv. 5's to keep up - the Big Magnum club and Big Air ball. You don't even have to buy the Lv. 4's first to get them.
