R.B.I. Baseball 14 News Post

Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) has announced R.B.I. Baseball 14 for current and next-gen consoles, as well as mobile devices, arriving this Spring.

With 2K Sports confirming no baseball game, it didn't look good for Xbox 360 and Xbox One fans, but it now looks like we will see a baseball game for Microsoft gamers after all.

Time will tell what kind of game this really is, but in the meantime you can keep track of the game on Twitter, Facebook and their official website.

Would be great for sports gaming if this was a fully fledged effort.

At the very least Xbox owners will have a baseball game in some capacity. And it would appear that they have the MLB license, which is good news.

What kind of game is it? Cartoony and silly or serious?

I desperately hope this is a true baseball simulation. I'm not gonna get my hopes up and start speculating though. Xbox One and 360 owners might be in luck.

Don't remember playing this franchise in the past, but I am intrigued.

Good thing it is only a publisher not a developer.

I must say, coming for consoles and smartphones doesn't give off a good vibe to me. Sure the smartphone app could be a totally seperate game, but I'm thinking it's going to be a PSN/XBL download type of game.

I agree. I'm skeptical of a fully-featured heir to the sim genre until I have more info. While I am insulated by being a long-time player of The Show and PS4 owner, there is no doubt that another, multi-platform take would be welcome. I'd certainly give it a look if it's the case

It is interesting that it is multi-gen. That could either suggest a big title gone through thorough development, or, like you suggested, a throw-away, download type game.

I can only hope that the MLB saw the success of The Show with Sony, and wanted their sport represented to a like extent on the XBox console—which has a larger install base in the NA market.

Holy crap. This came out of nowhere.

I would fully support a game like Konami's Power Pros where it has rather simplistic presentation and graphics but full of realism and loads of stats.
