Pigskin Season Lives On with New Head-to-Head Sports Strategy Game

Fat Dog Mobile, independent game development company extraordinaire, today announced the global release of Smashmouth Football for iOS and Android devices. The head-to-head sports strategy game tests your play-calling skills against friends and random opponents as a football head coach. You set the pace in Smashmouth Football, with the ability to log in from multiple devices and pick up where you left off, whenever and wherever you want to get your game on.

“We wanted to design a way for football to be in season all year round. Our audience is the football fan who understands the strategy of the game and wants to test their skill against others. They are competitive people who do not lose that desire just because the season ends,” said Eddy Cramm, Creative Director of Fat Dog Mobile. “Smashmouth is the brainchild of our ‘football with friends’ concept, and we’re thrilled to bring it to all the other sports junkies out there.”

In Smashmouth Football, pay attention – you can learn and track your opponents' tendencies to predict their plays and make better calls. Earn power-ups to use for an extra burst on offense or to make a game-changing defensive play. In addition to push notifications and a direct messaging feature for trash talking, Fat Dog is also adding weekly head-to-head record tracking in the next game update, so you’ll be able to keep tabs on your series against each opponent and earn power-ups for series wins and completed games.

“Our team put decades of extensive sports game development experience to work for Smashmouth Football. The concept is new to the space, but we are not,” said P.J. Snavely, Founder and Tech Lead of Fat Dog Mobile. “We brought together know-how from work on All-Star Baseball, Sony’s NBA series, MLB: The Show, World Tour Soccer, NCAA Final Four, NCAA Gamebreaker… Should I continue?”

Can you out-think and out-predict your way to victory? Put your game plan in motion with Smashmouth Football, available now on the iTunes App Store and Google Play; coming soon to Amazon Kindle, Windows Phones and Barnes and Noble Nook.

Updates Coming Soon:
  • Push notifications - know immediately when it is your turn to play
  • Weekly head-to-head record tracking - Keep track of your weekly record against every opponent. Earn Power Ups for series victories and completed games
  • Tendency Tracking - Use this to see how your opponent tends to play in specific situations and use that information against him.
  • Mouth off - Direct message your opponent and let him know just how terrible he really is.

Three games open with my opponent attempting an onside kick. All recovered by me. What a shock, they've made no moves since then

It seems that way. I've played one turn all weekend I think, and I have about 6-8 games going.
