NBA Live 14 News Post

NBA Live 14 title update #2 is in the hands on Microsoft and Sony and should arrive on Xbox One and PS4 soon. When it becomes available, we'll let everyone know.

EA Sports has revealed more details, after giving out little nuggets earlier this morning.

The update will include a new Shootaround mode, where you can choose from any player in the game and practice dribbling, signature moves, shooting, gathers and more. The team has tweaked the lighting and textures of every player and uniform to improve the graphics. For those that are curious, the ongoing facial scanning will not be added this year, the plan is to add them to NBA Live 15.

In terms of gameplay, the team has improved responsiveness and control for many of the NBA superstars. They tweaked first steps and dribble moves to be more explosive. Ball physics and pass speed, along with passing and catching animations have been improved as well.

The NBA All-Star court and jersey update will also arrive, along with additional Adidas Hardwood Classic uniforms. A new basketball, signed by the new NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver will also make its way into the game.

Can't believe they haven't addressed this atleast once.

I was just thinking....they refer to this as a "title update"....maybe there is actually a actual "patch" in the works too?

As I was playing this morning, I was thinking...all these additions are fantastic, and I am excited about them....but is the CPU still not going to call timeout throughout the game? Is the A.I going to continue to mismanage late game situations? Am I still going to receive losses in UT when the server crashes?

Kind've curbed my excitement a bit..

Glad they are sticking with it. Shame it wasn't what it should have been from launch.

I want nba live to succeed so bad, it's heading in the right direction

Its a success to me. Just too bad people never gave it a chance. At launch I almost sold it in a couple days. Glad I didn't

If we want to make 2k the villain that's fine...(even though I have no idea why they are being brought up in a Live title update thread) but that sure doesn't make EA the hero...there's a thread a few ways down that still has some unfulfilled promises in it...

I'm as excited as everyone else about the patch and the future....but let's postpone the EA parade and just appreciate that Live is finally getting back on their feet...
We haven't even seen if the patch fixes anything. A shootaround mode was NOT the "most requested" feature EA.. no I wanted you to fix the core gameplay which was broken on so many levels.

Title updates are patches. On PC we call it a patch. On consoles we call it a "title update" because Sony and MS like to pretend nothing is ever wrong with a console game i guess, lol.

Honestly, I enjoy the game. Not because it's super realistic or made for sim gamers. It's so easy to just hop in a game of Rising Star mode and just do your thing. You don't have to spend a crap-ton of in-game currency to get accessories. You just equip them. If you haven't played Rising Star, you should. It's a really simple game mode that's pretty east to get into.

Player models are honestly very well done on this game. Hopefully with the lighting enhancements this will be more apparent. Really for me it comes down to the fact that this game is about 8,000 animations away from being very good. Im hopeful for live's future.

It's all about connotation.

The two words carry the same denotation.

Somewhere around 2006-2007, game companies decided that "patch" had developed a negative connotation, so they started using "title update" as a more neutral, PR-friendly word.

Makes sense. Patches fix things - updates make them better!

You might be actually right

since it tries to be a simulation basketball game it needs much more fluidity

the fluidity is there the way the fluidity was there for fifa 06 world cup for 360.

fifa 7 was better but it took a WHILE to get to fifa 11 status

I don't know if 4 yrs is the target for nba live on next gen tho?

Im really hoping not

Well said, for me this is exactly how I feel... The models are fine, I can live with lebron not having a beard etc. what I want to see is more responsive actions and reactions. 90% of the nba run pick n roll yet it feels so awkward in the game.. Makes me not wanna use it at all

Interestingly for me I like the pick and roll in this game. Maybe it's because I use high pick and roll with the Warriors but it works well.

Yeah, that's weird BiggD. I love the pick n roll and how the cup defends it based on prior possessions.

The only thing I wish is, the pop doesn't really pop. The picking player doesn't really work his way to am open area, they tend to just stand there. Also wish they had an indicator or what type of pick was being set.

How often are the rosters and synergy updates supposed to take in effect? Hope that's included

# 77 The 24th Letter @ 02/09/14 10:43 PM
I like the pick system pretty good myself...a lot of people don't like the controls it seems but it works for me...

Only issues are:

Not being able to pick who's going to set the pick on command, the delay when pressing the pick button, and like 32 said, the pop....the CPU could defend it a little better too, if they aren't icing, a lot of times you have a wide open lane with a semi fast to fast PG holding turbo.

The passing and catch improvements should make the P & R even better though..

it frustrates me because the pass usually gets tipped
