FIFA 15 News Post

Several media outlets got a chance to partake in a hands-on preview of FIFA 15 some time ago, with the overall vibe coming from the meeting that FIFA was on the general right course but that the changes might not be as huge as people might want. Here are some snippets of what people thought of the game (with links to the full articles):

From FUTHead:

Quote:
"The game is shaping up nicely, as you'd expect with a full release to build upon, but the cosmetic changes outweigh the gameplay ones for me at the moment, hopefully because it's easier to see the impact they make and because the gameplay changes are still early in development. EA were keen to talk about player movement and how agile players now are but it did feel a bit unfinished, there was something about player movement that just felt a little off, maybe it's just me. Overall I'd currently call it a good improvement over FIFA 14, but not a huge one as it stands."

From Kotaku:

Quote:
"It's another year, it's another FIFA game, and it's another occasion where I've felt I've played a few matches on a good game and spoken to a person who is honestly trying to make something that people will enjoy."

From vg247:

Quote:
"FIFA 15′s main objective is to present the game in a way that feels as close as possible to what you can expect when watching football on TV. To recreate that sensation, each player now has his own system of emotions – influencing their on-pitch reactions, expressions and relationships."

From Computer And Video Games:

Quote:
"Even the physics for corner flags (players would previously run through them as if invisible) and goal frames are correctly implemented. Bury a Yaya thunderbolt from close range and you'll see the frame lift off the ground for an instant, as you'd expect to occur in reality.

These tiny intricacies are the type that will likely go unnoticed by the majority of FIFA players. But for the rest of us, those desperate to see this series keep up with MLB The Show and NBA 2K in terms of authenticity and believability, they're massive inclusions."

Seems like FIFA is way ahead of most sport titles. Really need to see the gameplay though.

Individuality, that's what I want to see in this version most of all. I want each player and each team to be distinct from one another and I want it to be noticeable. The emotions, pitch/kit degradation, the improved physics, the new ball physics, all of that is great, but without Barcelona being Barcelona, it all just feels shallow.

All good news so far. FIFA 14/ng was already brilliant on the pitch, what we need now is a more immersive visual experience, all the things we've been expecting from a X1/PS4 sports game.

P.S.: And for the love of God, please bring back Creation Centre!

Players weren't agile enough in FY'14? That's news to me...

They were, until the slider fairy came along and made all your players move like Kendrick Perkins mid match.

Spot on, that's what I've had a problem with FIFA 14 on PS4/XB1, but I let it slide being the first game on the system and we knew we weren't going to get many new things out of it like that. But now with the technology of these 2 systems present, there is no excuse for this not being in the game.

PES has player ID and you can tell by how Messi dribbles and plays, and so forth. In PES 13 they had 50 players with player ID, in PES 14 I know they used more players for it.

Team playing styles need to be in, long ball, short passing, etc. Teams that hold onto the ball I want them to control it in the game, I want to see Barcelona play it to their back 4 to set up play as they get them involved.

I've had enough of the eye candy, and while player emotions is nice, it's not what I'm looking for. If this stuff isn't in the game, and can be clearly see with star players and teams, I'll probably be looking at PES 15.
