MLS Reveals a New Logo and It's in FIFA 15

With the 20th season just around the corner, the MLS has revealed a new logo, along with club versions of the crest. The evolution of the logo can be seen here, via Deadspin.

FIFA 15 will feature them, as seen in the second video on this page. Let's hope they can get all the stadiums in next year.

That is great. Now if they would get a deal like the Premier League did for 15 for players, stadiums, and crowd chants in future versions. Would be nice promotion/exposure for the growing league.

I am a huge mls fan but man do I think they blew a golden opportunity to create a great logo for the league. Oh well....the most important thing over the next few years is improving the quality of play and then who cares about the logo...but still disappointed the way it looks.

If the MLS is smart, they will throw some money at EA to do this. I'd love it, because the only team I follow closely thus far is Sporting KC. I'm thinking all of the work put into the EPL authenticity this year will probably help me choose a team to follow there.

As far as the logo itself, it looks pretty solid. The "kickstand" annoys my favor towards symmetry, and the vast white space in the crest looks odd at first, but it is miles beyond the old logo.

Nice logo; simple, streamlined.

Adding MLS authenticity (stadiums, chants, etc.) to FIFA would improve their brand recognition ten-fold. It's every bit as important as a TV deal, maybe even more so these days.

I'd like to see a statistic, but I'm willing to bet most American FIFA players will play with EPL sides this year because it's the most authentic league in the game. Just imagine if MLS got that treatment.

I know that I probably will. Especially after the current MLS season ends, because the game will already be outdated (no Orlando or NYCFC) at that point.

Am I the only one that thinks the new logo looks too generic? It looks more like a fake generated EA logo rather than an official league logo. However, it could be much worse, this isn't too bad.

That was my first reaction, too. It might grow on me, though. All except the line extending outside of the crest. I'm pretty sure that's always going to bug me.

Couldn't agree more. I really hope the MLS gets the same treatment BPL did this year.

Logo is a little generic IMO. I might still use an MLS team this year but move them to Europe because there are no additional tournaments in the US besides the US Cup or whatever it's called. I think there is something like the Champions Cup over in the Americas but I maybe wrong. And please let me know I am wrong.

Not a fan at all, why is half of it just blank white? Seems like a half finished idea where everyone liked the shield shape but couldn't decide what should go on the other half of it so they just left it.

I'm hoping to see more MLS stadia too. The game is made in NA by a US company. Come on lads, let's see some domestic league love.

Why would EA give the MLS, of all leagues, the same treatment as the Premier League when it doesn't even give it to La Liga, Serie A, or even the Liga MX which is still vastly more popular then the MLS?

Liga MX attendance is such a joke. I have no doubt that folks love Liga MX, but if Dallas sold tickets for .75 or just gave them away, they could fill up Jerry World.

Praising LIGA MX for attendance is like praising a porn star for hooking up, or a pro-wrestler for winning a match. The game is kind of rigged.

Liga MX says they average roughly 22,000 per game. Of those 22,000 probably 6,000 tickets are sold at a price that would be comparative to other leagues. The other 16,000 are sold off at a significantly reduced rate, or just given away. Having high attendance is a vanity play by the Mexican league ... they just want the numbers, no matter how they get them.

$$$. Does not matter to EA about popularity as long as they get paid. This would be a win win for both or any league willing to pay as the exposure MLS would get with the youth would be well worth the cost EA would demand.

Because promoting a growing league in a hugely populated country with relatively massive amounts of disposable income could ultimately be in their best interest.

But no-one on our side of the pond cares much about the MLS. Most would rather see La Liga or the Bundesliga fully licensed.

If you think MLS (or any league) would be willing to go from receiving money for their rights to giving money to EA, you're crazy. And even if MLS decided to do that (they wouldn't), people would still end up largely playing European leagues because of the extra competitions and the lack of "true" MLS experience.

You still wouldn't have an accurate US Open Cup (and the Canadian teams still wouldn't have the Canadian Championship) without adding NASL/USL teams. There still wouldn't be a CONCACAF Champions League, or at least anything but an incredibly watered down version with just MLS and Liga MX teams. The roster rules still wouldn't be the same (because they're so weird and arbitrary that not even Football Manager has been able to replicate them even with an employee dedicated to overseeing MLS implementation).

And you can already predict what's going to happen to players who are sent to the new USL Pro affiliates when those start coming into play: they'll just disappear from the game.

While I'm all for MLS having actual stadiums and more face scanning and whatnot, you're never going to have MLS recreated fully, and MLS is definitely not going to pay them to do it.

I'm hoping EA replaced the lost Brazilian clubs with MLS in EA's fake Copa LatAM tournament.
