--------------

Hey Everyone,

As some of you may know, we promised to put together a community driven committee to help with the development of future iterations of the EA NHL franchise. Our goal is to bring the most passionate and knowledgeable community members into the studio to directly influence and shape the development of core game modes, as well as other aspects of the game. This first event will take place in early December.

This NHL Community Committee will eventually work to bring fan feedback directly to many aspects of the game, but the first objective is to help with the development of EA SPORTS Hockey League.

If you are interested in being part of this NHL Community Committee, please post in this thread and answer the following questions and let us know why you should be chosen:

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?
2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

After we have received enough applications, we will put the top candidates into a poll and the community will vote in the top 2 fans from OS onto the committee.

The entire committee will be made up of fans from different EA NHL communities, including the official EA Forums and Operation Sports.

Note: To participate in the committee you must reside in North America and be able to travel to Canada.

Thanks,
EA NHL Team.

1. I have been playing EASHL since its inception into the series. My favorite part of the mode is being able to nearly take out the computer element of the game play entirely and getting to experience teamwork with real humans. It is a treat to be able to portray different roles and see how the interactions play out as a team when you try and get five or six distinct moving parts and positions that are attempting to work cohesively in an effort to win a game against a team that has the same objective.

2. I would be open to discuss this option as to figure out what might best suit me for a role such as this, but overall I would think that the actual on-ice game play would probably be up my proverbial alley. For those members of OS that are familiar with my analysis of the issues that have plagued the mode in the past I would hope that I could be a part of the improvement and fixes surrounding many of these supposed issues.http://www.operationsports.com/forum...rehensive+list

3. What would make me the "ideal" candidate for this position is my background and expertise with the sport of hockey and my workings with OS and the community over the years, specifically with EA and the NHL series as a community leader and reporter in the past. My working knowledge of the game and sport, along with my thousands of hours playing EASHL for top ranked clubs over the years has shown me the best and worst parts of this game mode. Getting to relay my findings in an effort to help improve the NHL title in any way has been a long standing goal of mine, and that of the members of my club, the members of the forums at OS, and EASHL players everywhere.

1. I have been playing EASHL since NHL 09. My favourite part of the game mode has to be the fact that you can play WITH friends, rather than against friends. Not only that, but you can play against people's teams all around the world. It's just that EASHL brings people together in different ways and the experience is always enjoyable, whether it's a win or a loss. Because of this sense of community, I've made many memories on EASHL over the last 6 years with my friends and I know more will be made in the future.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, I feel like I would be most helpful in terms of the presentation of EASHL. Like many people here, I've watched hockey all my life, but I've also taken film classes in university which have enhanced my knowledge about things such as camera angles, sounds, visuals, and various other things which I believe can be applied to EASHL. I also have ideas in terms of cutscenes between players and even the coaches, perhaps even cinematic shots from a pre-game warm-up, and much more that would liven the experience for the consumers.

3. What makes me the ideal candidate? For starters, while I may not have posted on Operation Sports for a long time, I was a part of IGN's NHL Board for almost seven years, constantly contributing ideas for future games. I'm also not afraid to speak my mind regardless of the topic, so I will always be honest whether I'm talking about the good AND bad times I've had/will have playing EASHL or even if we're talking about future ideas. Our community deserves the best NHL game possible and I know EA is capable of doing so. I've also played thousands of games when it comes to EASHL, which means I've been through those greats games and I've had those terrible games that involve exploited goals, among other things. Regardless, I've kept coming back to EASHL and I always will, except this time I am hoping to be a part of the committee that helps bring things to future instalments of the NHL series that encourage other people to keep coming back.

As an indie game developer, I'd love to be able to share my (MANY) thoughts to improve EASHL from both a developer and dedicated NHL EASHL player perspective, but unfortunately I am unable to travel to Vancouver due to job and parenting commitments.

However if this requirement is ever lifted, I'd LOVE to be considered.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?
I have been playing EASHL ever since I first discovered the mode in NHL 12. My favorite part about the game mode is the ability of having 12 players around the world connecting to one another to play a 6 vs 6 competitive game. In my opinion, 6 vs 6 in EASHL is as close as it gets to simulating a real life experience to the great game of hockey.
2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
As part of the NHL Community Committee, I would like to have a direct influence on the competitive aspect of the game and be able to market the game mode to new potential players, whether they are casual or competitively driven gamers.
3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?
I am an ideal candidate for this committee because I have a true passion for this game mode. I have been considered as one of the best players in the game. Furthermore, I have tried my best to share my skills and knowledge of the game through my YouTube channel dedicated to EASHL, with over 2,500 subscribers. Providing people with knowledge and entertainment through YouTube videos is truly amazing. My YouTube outreach as well as my connections with other top players around the world has provided me with a list of (realistic) ideas created by myself and other people which I believe would be worth your while and beneficial to your company, the EA NHL franchise as a whole, as well as overall customer satisfaction with the game mode. It would truly be an honor to represent the thousands of players of this game mode. I'm willing to learn and try new things in order to help EASHL be the best game mode it can possibly be.

As a co-creator of the Revamped Rosters, my number one game mode is Be A GM. I would absolutely love to be a member of the Community Committee. However, for this first EASHL meeting, I feel that other members of our OS community would have more constructive input than I would. Diehard EASHL fans should be the ones considered here.

If there is a future meeting regarding rosters or BaGM, I will want a spot at the meeting very badly. I could provide a wealth of impactful and game-changing ideas and guidance for both of these topics. I hope the OS community will back me if these meetings occur as I am confident that I could make an enormous impact on these two areas.

I play real life hockey... but that's probably not good enough. You want to revamp game modes, not gameplay.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

I have been playing EASHL since its inception back in NHL 09, so I have been playing the game mode for over 6 years.

I think that my favorite part about the mode would be the competition and camaraderie. One of my favorite aspects of any video game is working together to accomplish a common goal. This passion for that type of game mode comes from years of competitive sport. One of the things about playing a game mode like Online Versus or HUT is that you truly are playing a video game. It’s you versus another player. There is no teamwork or camaraderie. EASHL truly recreates the sport-like atmosphere that I seek in any video game I play.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?

Well, there are a ton of areas where I would like to help out, but I have some really innovative ideas when it comes to competing in “drop-in” games. In addition to that, I would like to help assist with some of the more creative aspects of the mode that could be better utilized.

NHL 15 revolutionized the way the game behaved. It really has paved the way for NHL 16 where I feel I would be a huge asset to not only return EASHL to its glorious form, but surpass everyone’s expectations of what NHL 16 can deliver.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

There are a number of things that make me an ideal candidate. The first would definitely be my involvement in the YouTube and Twitch communities.

With nearly 15,000 subscribers on YouTube I deliver almost exclusively EA Sports content and within that almost all of the videos I produce are NHL related. I have created numerous tutorials in the area, including scoring, passing, winning faceoffs, and Hockey Ultimate Team. I have always strived to inform my audience of the best ways to win their games in whatever game mode they choose to play.

EASHL has always been one of my primary focuses. I have concentrated a lot of my efforts on creating unique player builds for people to use in EASHL and have competed in YouTube All-Star games, as well as produced videos chronicling my club team’s rise to the top and competing for the Division 1 Championship.

In addition to being very much involved in the YouTube community, I am one of very few “mature” individuals who do this. At 25 years old I am self-sufficient and have numerous resources at my disposal to be wherever I need to be. I treat my YouTube career as a second job and have worked diligently to slowly turn it into my primary one.

The EA NHL franchise has done a lot for me in terms of my career and I would like to give back to this franchise in whatever way I possibly can. If selected, I will use all of my resources to make a difference for this committee, including involving my fan base to help provide ideas to improve EASHL for NHL 16.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration, and I hope that I may be able to help forge the future of the EA NHL franchise for the better.

Sincerely,

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

I have been playing EASHL since January of NHL 10. I purchased the game after playing it at a friends house and immediately fell in love with the team play aspect of the game. My favorite part of the game mode has to be the competitiveness, at the highest level of 6v6 the game can be unbelievably fun to play, especially with something on the line. Playing in leagues like the LGHL and LG Pro Series are one of the main reasons I still love playing EASHL on my Xbox 360 despite owning an Xbox One and plenty of games on it.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?

I would like to directly influence the re-introduction of EASHL to the NHL franchise and the creation of a more competitive side to the game. Back in NHL 09 and 10 there were year end playoffs that led to some of the most memorable moments in EASHL history. I'd like to see that return and then some, we've already started making the game mode more competitive at League Gaming with the introduction of the LG Pro Series. The key to growing the competitive side of the game is having the game be fun for casual players as well, so I would also like to share my thoughts on improvements that could help the casual community of EASHL players.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

I started the LG Pro Series to create a competitive environment and it has succeeded so far on a small scale. I want that to grow, and the only way I see that growing or becoming more main stream is if the game mode is as good as it can possibly be on the new generation of consoles. Personally I've invested hundreds of hours into EASHL over the last 5 years and I've played at the highest level for the last 3 years. I know some of the main flaws within the mode, I know what makes the mode enjoyable, and I think I can help make EASHL the best game mode within the NHL series for casual and competitive players alike.

Also I saw a post that said goalies/defensemen need representation, I personally play defense in EASHL and used to play goalie frequently as well.

If anyone is interested I have plenty of videos of my team playing EASHL on my channel. We play at the highest level, so it might not look like "real hockey", but we understand the game mechanics as well as anyone and I'd be willing to offer insight into ways to fix buggy animations and movements.

1.)I've never played EASHL, unfortunately.
2.)I've been playing Be a GM since NHL 09. I would love to get to be a part of a committee to help get the game back to the greatness that i think it definitely had not long ago. I would like to help out, and would love to put the focus on Be a GM and the offline game modes, and aspects that i think could improve that. Everything from player editing, roster sharing and editing, and sliders.
3.)It seems to me that EA's lost it's focus on aspects outside of HUT. It would be nice to get to help try and make NHL16 something that could erase what NHL15 has been from everyone's mind.
It's nice to see that EA looks to be making a focus on getting community input, and i really hope it carries on. I've been pretty vocal about my gripes with the NHL series of late, but i like to think I've also been pretty fair. I try to be respectful of other's opinions in regards to the game, because as with most things, it's very subjective. Just because i don't enjoy it, doesn't mean someone else couldn't, or shouldn't.

1. - I've been playing NHL since the first game for Sega Genesis back in 1991. I've played year since and i try to play a bit of every mode. My favourite part of EASHL is playing with my buddy as he is in another city.

2. I would love to be a part of the GM Connected mode that has Online Team Play. or anymode that has this. My buddy and i have played NHL seasons for years at each others houses but now with kids and different cities we never play couch co-op only online and this was taken out this year. You see, we play real hockey and when i mean real hockey i mean real hockey on the nhl series. We dominate teams, we dump and chase and outshoot the other team but we lose because we can't press buttons as fast as these younger kids. Our attcking zone time is usually triple as well. Nobody can cycle the puck like us, so because of this we hate playing EASHL but we love the GM Connected Online team play mode. I start a season and my buddy joins and over NHL 13 and NHL 14 we have played about 13 seasons. Every game 8 min periods. We don't like to play with any other people. And the take it out this year. Even if i don't get picked please bring this back. NHL 15 is the only NHL game i have not bought.

3. Plain and simply, I know really hockey. Real Simulation hockey. Not arcade hockey. Put me in a game with someone with equal stats and there is no comparison. We don't cheat to win. Know the game. Why do i lose to a guy that has played 3000 games. Because he can skate faster than me. It sux because they do the same thing everytime. They don't have any orginality. that's boring to me. please change this.

How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

To be honest out of all the countless hours Ive put into the NHL series dating back to my first copy of the game in 1993 I haven't spent a awful lot of time playingin the EASHL. I love the fact that its a team based game and that you dont control all aspects of whats happening on the ice but the mode for me has never had the same level of depth you get in modes like Be-a-GM.

As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?

I would happy helping in what ever area I'm needed whether it be bouncing around ideas with everyone or simply reaching out to the community and listening to what they have to say... oh ya and me and a few buds might be kind of alright at working on rosters

What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

Thats pretty easy I love this series it has taken 90% of ALL of my gaming since I started playing the only thing I love more is hockey itself, I have a lot of great ideas and a extremely high work ethic and even if Im not chosen for the commitee I will still do what ever it is possible to make this game as realistic and as fun as possible, I'm also a huge believer in listening and working with the community the OS boards have some true hockey fans and they have helped us a lot with the revamp project.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?
I been playing EASHL since its introduction in nhl 09. My favorite part of EASHL is that team first mentality and the development of your skater and team. There is not another sports game out there where you and your friends can all get on the same team, work in tandem with your individual skater and have that jump off the couch feeling of excitement after a well executed play.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
Well there are a few areas in which I have a few suggestions or ideas that I would like to share, however a couple things I would especially like to talk about is gameplay in relation to user interaction and A.I. Nothing is worse than a guy in a drop in game deciding to put down the controller mid way through the first and leave or deciding to stand offside every-time he doesn't get the puck. With relation to A.I. its more so how can we make them a little more dynamic with the human players and have a better sense of adapting to a teams tendencies. One example of one of my suggestions is to have a stat/percentage tracker for every skaters from what area of the ice do they shoot from to what area of the net do they aim for. This could be expanded to pass vs shoot ratio as well as a teams tempo and so forth. These stats/percentages would be inputted into the game before the game starts to adjust A.i. tendencies. ex, If a team likes to break from there zone early the defense would back off quicker offensively. If teams shoot from the slot only, the A.I. would really plug that up. If glove side is getting shot at 80 percent of the time the goalie can anticipate that. The A.I. will adjust accordingly even before the puck hits the ice as all this data would be from past games played. A more dynamic A.I., fueled by actual player data would make the game feel more organic and alive and hopefully would limit scripted A.I. routine.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?
I have been playing the NHL series since NHL 98 and have seen the series develop and evolve over the years as well as video game industry. In saying that I have seen the the EASHL grow into maybe not the most played game mode, but the most engaging and team oriented mode in sports gaming with a very passionate and dedicated fan base. I have a love for video games in general and would love for nothing more than to help make EASHL a more fun and engaging way to play with your friends, as well with people around the world. I hope I hear from you and thank you.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

I've been playing EASHL since the mode debuted and have been doing so with the same 5 other guys since that time. The reason we purchased NHL on the Xbox 360 was because of EASHL and its exclusion was the reason we did not purchasing it for PS4. I favorite part of the mode was playing with friends. We would play for hours on end and either celebrate or rage together. It was a great way to hang out with my two friends from Canada and another who resides in New York.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?

I think I could really help in the gameplay aspect of the mode. After playing it for so many years, I have a good feel of how the game should feel. I think it would also be great to have community input in terms of easy/cheese goals that are running rampant through the mode and what could be done better to make the AI play more realistically to a human player.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

I've been part of the NHL gaming community since 2001 where I was a moderator at Cyber-NHL and later a prominent member at sites like Thunderpuck and Double Minor Downloads. I have a lot of experience playing these games, modding these games on PC and have been purchasing these games since NHLPA 93 on Sega.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?
I don't play EASHL - I focus on franchise versus the CPU opponent with everything aimed towrads realistic feel and stats.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
I would focus on franchise, gameplay, realism and sliders. I make sliders every year for NHL, MLB The Show and usually for Madden. I am a slider guy.....I can help you guys make this game play a better brand of hockey...end of story.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?
I have played the NHL series since before I had hair on my nuts (early 90's). I also have played hockey my entire life while also coaching for years. I understand the game aned the little things like dump ins, chip outs, board play, cycling, D to D passes, etc. I would be on a mission to take the realism to the next level
