NBA 2K16 Adds '00-'01 Lakers & '03-'04 Pistons to the List of Classic Teams

2K Sports has added the '00-'01 Los Angeles Lakers (previously revealed) & '03-'04 Detroit Pistons to the list of classic teams in NBA 2K16.

There will be 12 new classic teams added this year, 7 of them have now been confirmed.

Here is the list of confirmed classic teams so far:

'03-'04 Detroit Pistons
'07-'08 Houston Rockets
'99-'00 Toronto Raptors
'07-08 Boston Celtics
'00-'01 Los Angeles Lakers
'02-'03 Dallas Mavericks
'99-'00 Portland Trail Blazers

Two more teams will be revealed next Thursday.

I would love to see a Prime Baron Davis in the Game, but I'm not sure will the 07 Warriors make the cut!

I looking forward to playing with '00-'01 Lakers. Don't care for the Pistons. They only won the title because Kobe lost his damn mind that series. LOL

While that team was very fun, I don't see an argument for having them in the game over atleast another 6 realistic teams.

04 minny, 05 suns, 93 suns, 03 spurs, 98 or 2000 pacers, 02 kings.

then there's 09 magic and 10 lakers etc.

but yes, we believe warriors would be fun, but there are quite a few teams I would pick ahead of them.

I believe it's worth noting that 2K has not always opted for the flat out best squads when selecting classic teams. The 1991 Warriors and 1993 Hornets come to mind in that regard. Sometimes it's about fun and/or memories, as was likely the case when the 2000 Raptors and 2008 Rockets were both selected.

I think the 2007 Warriors have a good chance, as they stand as one of the most iconic teams of the decade.

The 05 Suns and the '02 kings, 09 Magic. are the only teams you listed i would even play with. MAYBE the 04 Wolves/2000 Pacers with my man Jalen.

It's about fun factor. I guarantee you nobody uses half those old 60's/70's teams. Nobody wants to play with them dudes man. No matter how dominate they might have been. (No disrespect)

A darkhorse team that I think is too recent for classic team status but remains one of my lowkey faves: the 2009 Denver Nuggets team that went to the conference finals. It's chock full of ballplayers, dunkers and characters:

Carmelo Anthony
Chauncey Billups
Kenyon Martin
Nene
J.R. Smith
Chris Andersen
Dahntay Jones
etc.

I may have to look in to replicating that team myself this year.

Wallace switched between cornrows and his afro in 2K5. He was rocking cornrows in that clip above.
