EA has several questions to answer about CLC and College Football 15
Posted on July 21, 2013 at 03:38 PM.
This week, a bombshell was dropped on gamers when the NCAA announced it was ending its relationship with EA and getting out of the video game world.

At first, there was a panic. Then EA made an announcement the next gen game was already under devolpement. Then the announcement of a new 3-year deal with the CLC and everyone seemed to relax. It seemed our virtual college football game was safe.

But if you examine the CLC there are still several questions that remain. EA points out that the CLC has 150 schools. But if you look at the schools that are represented by the CLC, you'll notice that a large number of FBS teams are missing. Below is the actual list of teams represented by the CLC:

Is your team on the list? What happens if it isn't? Those are questions we need answered by EA and hopefully sooner than later. For several fans of the now call College Football series, we enjoy playing as our school. If it doesn't recreate a true FBS season, then is it really the sim we want?

Sure there's the Teambuilder option but that isn't really what we should have to do. And if they can't secure the additional FBC teams then the additional Teambuilder slots should be free to us going forward, or at least enough to cover all the missing teams. I shouldn't have to pay extra to fix whatever EA doesn't get in.

Next question comes from the conferences that the CLC represents:

America East Conference
Atlantic Coast Conference
Big 12 Conference
Conference USA
Mountain West
Southeastern Conference
Southern Conference
Sun Belt Conference
Western Athletic Conference

A couple of questions here: They don't represent all the conferences so what about the missing? Is EA going to work out a deal with the Pac 12 and Big 10? Again, something fans of the game will want to know and hopefully won't have to wait until next year to find out. And if they don't, maybe a Conference builder similar to Teambuilder can be born and we upload logos. Again, not ideal but I don't think we are leaving in ideal times when it comes to college football video games.

Also, what if your team isn't listed, but your team's conference is? Are there certain agreements in place with conference to get your team in? Again, we don't know yet so these are the types of things EA needs to clear up.

While the good news is there will be a college football game next year. But for a lot of us these questions need to be answered before we can believe in the next title. I'm hopeful these questions will be answered but right now there are too many for me to be excited.

I for one will have a hard time buying a game that doesn't feature my team after years of them being there with no issues. I remember when this generation started and they were missing most of the stadiums. That was horrible and bad for the game. I'm hoping this generation doesn't start with the game missing several of the teams as well.

I'm hoping EA understands these questions shouldn't wait to be answered until next summer. I think they do since they were quick to let us know about the CLC agreement and hopefully quick to get us info on other agreements.

So, were in uncharted waters now. Here's hoping that the name NCAA is all we lose and not a lot of the teams we've come use to being in the game.

EA already deals with those schools and conferences individually that are not under the CLC. It will be no different than it already has been.

I'm sure there are deals in the past, but until we see them re-upped can we be sure? EA made a point to let us know the CLC contract is good but that's all that's confirmed.
