Died of "over work" they announce. So creepy to see a country like that in action where they actually that kind of propaganda and expect people to swallow it.

Isn't his son more bat shit crazy than he is though? With all the recent tensions between North and South I can see junior doing something really stupid to announce his arrival on the scene. Awesome.

Hey, at least they said he as dead. The Russians used to be a little slow with that. I figure Casto might be dead for a few months before the Cubans announce it.

Much like the Russians did with Lenin to create a cult of personality so Stalin could be inextricably linked to Lenin.

There are a couple of sons I've heard about. There was one that was considered a mini-me version, and was thought to be the heir, but he fell out of favor after getting caught trying to visit Disneyland Japan with a fake passport. The one they are mentioning now, Kim Jong Un, is nearly completely unknown. He wasn't acknowledged publicly until a couple of years ago when he was announced as a 4 star general.

Obama would get a bump in approval ratings if he just went on TV and said, "My fellow Americans. Today we learned that Kim Jong Il has died... " *shrug shoulders* "eh.. oh well"

Yes, clearly that's what happened. . I'm more worried about what some 28 year old in charge of nuclear weapons might do to establish his credentials as leader; saber-rattling.

There's also the chance that the country moves forward toward sanity now with him out of the way.

Yes, Hitler was a human being as well, a creation of God who turned to evil acts. Still a human being.

And I don't believe in Hell, at least the traditional concept of it.

Yes he was.

But people like him make me want to believe in life-after-death, so he can answer for the atrocities he's committed.

I knew that would come up but when you are talking about a dictator that committed atrocities against his people, isn't it reasonable to mention another dictator that committed atrocities against his people? I guess I could go back and edit it with Stalin...

Here's a slideshow of pics taken in North Korea by Time photographers. One guy set up an elaborate story about being a Belgian chocolatier to get a visa.

It's an incredible thing to see how millions of people can be brainwashed over decades to create a god-like platform for their leader(s). I've read a lot of articles/books on North Korea. Those are legitimate tears being shed by those people. They're crushed by his death, even though we as outsiders know he was a schmuck to say the least.
