Dang...USC gave a good effort..I guess two PAC-10 teams in the elite 8 is good enough.

Oooooooo-kay, we have a new contender for the dumbest move by a coach in NCAA tournament history.

Gibson didn't reach out. He moved in set his feet. Gibson didn't move until the UNC player ran into him.

Not to mention perhaps the most competitive set of Sweet 16 games ever (I haven't looked it up, but I wouldn't be surprised it this is the lowest ever combined score differential for round).

UNC better not play like that against Georgetown. Great game Trojans.

I'm the biggest pimp for the underdogs this side of wade moore, but come on y'all, that was a GREAT sweet 16, I don't care what seeds ended up winning. Lot of officials with their heads up their asses though, considering how deep into the tournament we are.

Did I hear that right? SC was up 16 with 7 to go and managed to lose by double digits? Ugh.
This tournament is dead to me if Oregon's 3 seed is the 'Cinderella' of the Elite Eight. |

On Gibson getting the questionable moving screen late: "That was an obvious foul and the refs are always going to call that." So, a questionable late violation that helps the ACC/Big East is a good call. One that hurts, though, shouldn't really be called. Can't wait for the final 4 and more of his brilliance. |

As a Gtown fan, mixed emotions. Green clearly travelled, was he pushed? Who the hell knows... there were a number of questionable calls down the stretch, ticky tacky things that sent Vandy to the line, but it's never going to sit well when the defining moment of a game hinges on a clearly botched call. I've got tickets to the Elite 8 game, so you won't hear me complain about this too much, but still, not thrilled that a great game was decided by a missed call (even if someone wants to argue a push or anything else, still a missed call).

I would disagree completely. Aside from a very few odd calls, I think the officiating has been very good. Some of the games have been called more tightly than I would like, but they have been consistent. |

Watching this DII National title game, Barton College knocked off Winona State. It wasn't always fun to watch, but at the end there...you couldn't script a more entertaining way to finish by the little team that could.
Good stuff.

And how about those Rutgers women. Nothing like sending Duke women home...good times. Not a bad day of obscure basketball before the real games even come on. Not that I enjoy women's basketball, but...it's a lot more enjoyable when you have a dog in the hunt I think.

But gotta be tough to choke on the foul line with two chances to win the game and miss both.

I would love to know how many people bitching about the officiating in this thread have experience as a Division I official in a national championship tournament.
It was a heat of the moment call, and the refs did the right thing letting it play out. Last edited by RedKingGold : 03-24-2007 at 05:40 PM. |

I bet most would wet their pants doing a High School game. It is easy to make judgement after you see slow motion replays or better camera angles. Watch it from floor level at the speed that these guys are moving and then tell me how it was easy to see a missed call. |

Memphis got fucking screwed in the ass. Fucking screwed. Such BS officiating. They gout fucking screwed. How many consecutive possessions for an OSU free throws? God we got screwed. Just be fucking fair. That is the the only thing we ask. So obvious the NCAA and CBS wanted OSU in the game.

Yawn. Happens whenever someones team not favored to win loses. Maybe if Memphis hit some more shots in the second half when OSU got cold it would've been different. Instead they went ice cold. No one to blame but the players themselves. |

This is all well and good, most referrees couldn't do my job well. Few, if any of them, could drive a racecar or perform surgery. However, I think an expectation of a high level of accuracy from the top referees in the sport is not that much to ask. |

Ah, the "Memphis Homer" version of GE is making another appearance. It's been a while since we've heard from this version.

There might have been a couple of questionable calls, but not 16 points worth. The body language on the bench showed that Memphis gave up with about 5 minutes to go.

Do you pay attention to the game? Most of their points came form the FT line. They were 28 of 28 from the FT line in the 2nd half. Is that crap or what? Fucking bullshit. NCAA and CBS wanted tOSU in the final four. They got them. Just fucking bullshit.

I saw the game without Memphis-tinted glasses on. They weren't 28 for 28 in the second half, you biased observer. They missed 3 free throws in the second half. They did start to go to the free throw line often at about the 3 minute mark, when they had an 8 point lead, which was built from the field, not the free throw line. Once Memphis started the hack attack, OSU did start the impressive run of 16 consecutive free throws. You have shown many times in the past that you cannot accept a Memphis loss. This is another example of that behavior.
