All of the scores for #1 vs. #2 match ups in the women's Elite 8.

So you mean to say there are four women's basketball teams?

And at least one of those wasn't nearly that close.

He built KSU up along with Huggins from a point that was just as bad as South Carolina. If he follows that same blueprint, he'll have a well-paying job in a much more stable school/conference.

Whether the Big 12 is here in 5 years or not has very little to do with Frank's decision to leave KSU. It's been stated in the media to numerous people (even by Frank himself) that the reason he is leaving is because he and the new KSU AD do not get along. The Jamar Samuels decision just before the Syracuse game was just the final straw.

Saw this on the local news last night. Was wondering if it would end up going national. Not sure if this should go in this thread or the strange news thread.

We've got a softball tournament in Tennessee this weekend, and we are schedule to play right in the middle of the game. One girl's grandfather is refusing to go to the tournament now. He's staying to watch the game from home.

It's an ominous sign for both the institution and the conference under turmoil when a coach like Frank Martin leaves that program to what most would see as a step down and could politely be termed a lateral move.

That's simply false. Bill Self was quoted yesterday as saying that Frank Martin told him at the Big 12 tournament that a move to South Carolina was a likely scenario. Also, Frank's top recruit signed an aid agreement rather than a LOI. It's pretty clear that Frank Martin was doing much the same as what Mike Anderson did last year to Mizzou. He's been gone for a month or two and was already recruiting for his future job.

An ominous sign for the conference? Now you're just being dramatic. So was it an ominous sign when Anderson left Missouri for Arkansas and Haith left Miami for Missouri? Of course not. You're trying to skew the facts to support your viewpoint, but that simply isn't the case here. Frank Martin wasn't happy with his AD. It's been common knowledge for a while now.

Are you sure Bill Self said the Big 12 tournament? Per 810's Soren Petro, Bill said he spoke with Frank Martin after their NCAA tournament game against Syracuse. The South Carolina job didn't even come available until after the Big 12 tournament had been finished.

Here was the quote from Self; “I spoke to him last week, after the (loss in NCAA) tournament, telling him congratulations on another great year,” Self said. “He told me this could be a possibility. I don’t know what the situation is down there, but I think he left a good situation, so he must feel this is a really good situation for him personally.

Looks like it this year. Also means tough to complain about the men's side of things for lack of good games. There might be some ugly closing out jobs by teams, but at least they have a chance.

This seems shady as hell. Michigan State's AD is giving advice to a Michigan player who is dealing with going pro or not. Whether the advice is good or not is irrelevant; that is a huge conflict of interest.

I would read more into it if was actual conversation versus what appears to be some random tweet. Also, the tweet itself is going against its own advice unless Burke sought him out in the first place.

Danny Manning apparently taking the Tulsa head coaching job. This is a BIG loss for coach Self and KU. Danny was probably the best assistant not just in the conference, but in the country. Most were surprised he hadn't left sooner.

Danny Manning agrees to be coach at Tulsa, sources say - ESPN

Also, per Dave Telep, Devonta Pollard is down to Georgetown, Mizzou, and Texas. Would love to have that kid in our front line with Laurence Bowers next year.

Shabazz also cut his list to three last night. UCLA, Duke, and Kentucky.

Rumors are coming out of Dallas that Larry Brown is interested in the head coaching job at SMU, as they prepare to head to the Big East.

It's a shame to see Danny leave KU, but by all accounts it is long overdue and I am genuinely happy for him. No doubt Self had a bit to do with him landing that job, seeing how it was his program for three years. I think I may just become a bit of a Golden Hurricane fan.

The timing is bad but good for Manning. He's one hell of an assistant who is credited with the huge coaching improvements our big men see seemingly every year. Big loss for KU but he deserves a shot like this.

So MBBF, would you say this is a BIG loss for the Big 12 and Manning likely left because of conference instability?

I would say it is a big loss for the conference. He's someone that the conference foes and KU fans identify with the old conference, which was much more stable than the current iteration.

If McAdoo goes and Duke doesn't get Shabazz, you could actually pick someone other than Duke or Carolina for both of the top spots in the ACC and not have someone look at you as crazy. What's more nerve-wracking is that NC State would vault into "trendy pick" status for the ACC next year. I'm not sure how to handle that.

Congrats to the OSU women's team. The WNIT is not normally something to go overboard about, but considering the circumstances they played in this year, it's a nice story they won it.

I posted this in the college thread this year, but if you aren't in Stillwater, you just have no clue how much the two plane crashes have impacted the university. Congrats to the team.

J'Covan Brown makes it official that he is entering the draft. That leaves the Horns with 6 scholarship players, all of them freshmen last season. There are at least 2 freshmen coming in, C Cameron Ridley, and PG Javan Felix. They are also still in the hunt for SF Devonta Pollard. Anyway you shape it, it is gonna be a really young team.

Definitely an uninspiring hire. The KSU fans I've talked to seem to think the AD is hiring him based solely on his reputation of running a "clean" program. The theory is that the AD is looking to move on and trying to enhance his reputation as running a clean athletic department.

He's getting the same salary at Ohio that he had at TCU. He was very successful in the MAC with Kent State before going to TCU, so maybe he sees it as less stress, same money, and going back to a comfort zone. TCU definitely didn't make many waves in the MWC while he was there.
