Harper's 32-Game Hitting Streak Ends
Thursday, April 28th, 1921: George Harper's 32-game hitting streak has now come and gone. It was snapped today in the Pirates 7-4 setback to the Cubs. Harper went without a hit in 4 trips to the plate. Talking to BNN after the game he was visibly upset. But the streak had little to do with it.

"I'm disappointed we lost, I'm not one bit disappointed that the streak ended," Harper said. "The hitting streak was just one of those things where it was fun while it lasted, but I'm not going to lose any sleep tonight."

Harper is hitting at a .381 mark this season. His stats show 7 home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has played 25 games for the Pirates.

In real life, Nelson Louis "Chicken" Hawks only played two seasons in the majors. He broke in with the Yankees at age 25 in 1921 and ended up with the Phillies four seasons later in 1925 and then was out of baseball for good.

He had 7 career HRs and 60 RBI in 146 games he played in his career. He already has 6 HRs and 49 RBI in his first FOOL-H season.

Congrats Pittsburgh, Yankees and Senators!

I'll be rooting for the Yankees to win the ALCS since I have yet to figure out how to beat Washington in our meetings.

The Pirates had a huge last month of the season to get away from a tight race with the Giants, going 21 and 6.

You went 14-5 against me this year, so I'm not so sure that I'm just going to roll through here!

I'll be rooting for the Yankees too.

Congrats to the others who are in the dance.

I, on the other hand, will not be rooting for the Yankees. Ever.

They dispatched me the last time we met in the AL playoffs so I am hoping for a better result from my guys. We split the season series so it should be good.

Pittsburgh went 21-6 in September to surge into the playoffs past the Giants who fell apart with an 8-17 mark to finish the year. Gotta like that kind of effort!

Good luck to everyone (including you Tim).

Man the AL is super tough this season. I go 85-77 and manage to finish 6th in the league. That's rough.

Boston wasn't as lucky, it seems. Pittsburgh advances to the Fall Classic for the first time ever.

Congrats to the champs, as well as all of our playoff teams. And everyone else for pitching in for a good season.

File is up. We have Monday off, then we get back into the swing of things Tuesday night as usual. Enjoy your first full week of 2010!
