She's also like 26, yet looks 16. Reverse pedo-tard for the win.

They don't play that song on the radio enough. I wish I heard it more than 27 times a day.

You know who I'd never really heard before but now I've heard her new song a bunch thanks to my daughter, is Rihanna. She has one of those voices you know is bad because even autotuned and with all the studio tricks they apply, it sounds impossibly thin, airy, and like she can barely hit the high notes. I can't remember how it goes except that the chorus is just one line repeated 3 or 4 times.

Yeah, that's it. Man after sitting through that song and a couple others on Radio Disney on the way home from practice last night, I was happy to turn on Liquid Metal to catch Type O Negative's Black No. 1. I forced her to listen to almost the entire thing (turned it off before the "IT WAS LIKE FUCKIN' THE DEAD!" line which would have gotten me thrown out of the house by the wife). But it was enough to purify my soul.

The continued success of Flo Rida just amazes me. Oh and that Pitbull douche. They make rap music for people to use as an example of shitty rap music in order to disregard the whole genre.

Yeah, I don't get Pitbull at all.

I think this sums up Pitbull:

Me not working hard?
Yeah, right, picture that with a Kodak
Or better yet, go to Times Square
Take a picture of me with a Kodak

So as an example of him working hard, he rhymes Kodak with.... Kodak.

Just repeat that line 2,492 times and you have a Rihanna song. Genius!

My gf listens to the radio in the car whenever we go anywhere. I want to gouge my eyes out every time a Maroon Five, Rihanna or Gotye song comes on.

Now that went and looked this up so I know what the hell you people are talking about, I liked the part in the video where it shows her "band" and the most overproduced pop music completely devoid of any real instruments was playing. It's a completely generic ear candy type of song.

Like her eyes a lot...definitely makes her look less like a teen. The rest isn't special and I have no idea what the song is. Although, on a separate point, I do like the Jagger song a little.

Just looked up the song....ow, my ears hurt.

One thing songs like this tell me is A: Pop music is still devolving and B: if I wanted to, I could use minimal effort to create a song with very similar qualities and try and cash in for a quick buck. I know enough girls with good enough looks and voices to replicate this, and its pretty easy to make a beat like this one given an hour or so with fruityloops..

Pitbulling has become a 'verb'. It means to have a song change tempo to Reggaeton mid-track, and then have Pittbull talk in a low, deep voice over the track, preferably throwing in a little Spanish here and there for good measure.

Having heard that new Justin Beiber song for the umpteenth time last night, it finally occurred to me why I can't stand him - how does someone like that have hip hop/street cred? His songs make no sense when you combine them with... him. There's this very obvious disjoinder, and I can't for the life of me understand why he's popular or how big names are so willing to associate with him.

That Boyfriend song is a perfect example. Dude raps, which is funny enough to think about on its own, and then in the middle of an otherwise serious song, he drops a BUZZ LIGHTYEAR reference. WTF? I suppose it's brilliant marketing to my kids (8 and 12), but it's not like his only audience is tweens. He seems pretty popular in general. I don't get it.

re: Beebs ... one of the crappier things about him is that he seems to be a decent kid. Pretty much every adult artist who has done anything with him comes away raving about him off-stage. With his latest deal -- taking the girl to the Billboard Awards after he realized he couldn't go to her prom after all -- he's either an actual good guy or he's got brilliant handlers.

edit to add: The reason I say being a good kid is crappy in this case is that it makes it harder for me to outright hate him. He's still a musical wasteland, but not necessarily a bad guy.

I'm not sure I hate him. I just don't understand him justaposed with his music, or the hype. It's the hip hop edge that makes no sense to me. It seems to me that nearly any other kid that age who looked like him who tried to pull that off would get laughed off stage and berated like he was Urkel at a porn convention or something.

I'm sure he's a nice kid and all, but frankly, that just makes the hip hop/rap thing even more ridiculous.
