Best Fielder Awards Winners in CL Announced
Wednesday, November 10th, 2173: What does it take to win a Best Fielder Awards? It's a combination of good hands, knowing how to play the hitters, all-out hustle and a willingness to sacrifice your body to make a play. Good speed and a good arm never hurt, either, but not always required. This year's all-defense team in the Continental League consists of:

CL's Top Rookie Chosen
Thursday, November 11th, 2173: Jesús Ruíz, third baseman of Brooklyn, was the cream of the freshman crop in the Continental League and today he received the 2173 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

He played in 162 games, compiling a .301 batting average with 185 hits, 27 home runs, 49 walks, and a .350 on-base percentage. Ruíz also chipped in 98 RBIs and scored 95 times.


Republic League Selects Premier Rookie
Thursday, November 11th, 2173: 2173 was a much better year than Andrés Medellín expected. This spring he was overjoyed at just making the Toronto roster. Not only did he make the team, he was the starting second baseman. Then it got even better.

In his debut season, Medellín hit .333 with 160 hits in 481 at-bats, 13 home runs, 65 RBIs, 24 bases on balls and a .383 on-base percentage -- good enough numbers to be honored with the Republic League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award.

Sánchez Scoops up CL Top Hurler Award
Saturday, November 13th, 2173: The Gabriel Prado Award for 2173 has been presented and the Continental League winner is Luis Sánchez of Cleveland.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Sánchez. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Cyclones star told reporters.

Sánchez excelled with an impressive 19-8 record in 33 starts. In 214 innings he yielded 190 hits and 53 walks, while striking out 192 and compiling a fine 3.32 ERA.


RL Gabriel Prado Award Winner Announced
Saturday, November 13th, 2173: The Toronto Marlboros have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Han-seung Paek, this year's Republic League Gabriel Prado Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Paek compiled a 21-5 record in 33 starts, tallied 148 strikeouts in 224.1 innings and recorded a 2.89 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .257 batting average against him.

Lenzi Selected CL's Top Batter
Sunday, November 14th, 2173: Noblesville's Luiz Lenzi put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2173 Continental League Hideaki Tanaka Award.

The 32-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .331 average, picking up 185 hits, 25 doubles, no triples, 40 home runs and 121 RBIs, while scoring 92 runs.


Standout Season For Carasquillo, Wins RL Hideaki Tanaka Award
Sunday, November 14th, 2173: It's been a year of triumph for veteran Pedro Carasquillo of the Hammersmith Hooligans as he hit his way to the 2173 Republic League Hideaki Tanaka Award.

The 30-year-old veteran compiled a .337 average and .414 on-base percentage by putting together 230 hits, 34 doubles, 6 triples, 26 home runs and 46 walks. He also scored 122 times and drove in 103 runs.
