How much time do you spend recruiting?

I'm curious as to how much time people put into recruiting in this game week-to-week.

Do you just look at the level of the player (5-1 stars) and pick the guys that have the most interest in your school?

Do you look at a players' ratings to see if his skills match up with the schemes you are running on offense/defense?

Do you look at the tendency of a player and recruit a certain type of QB/WR/HB, etc.?

Does height/weight matter at all to you?

Do you stick strictly to Pipeline states or do you try and expand your recruiting arm to states outside of the Pipeline?

Do you ever make runs at guys that don't have your school anywhere on their list?

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll admit that I've gotten a little lazy the last couple of years in terms of recruiting, but I think the new changes this year will allow me to go a little more in-depth with the mode.

Re: How much time do you spend recruiting?

I spend about 45 mins each week recruiting

I try 2 look at all level players

I look at certain ratings for the players I recruit

Tendencies is important 2 me

Height/Weight does matter 2 me depending on scheme/strategy/team I use

I try 2 stay in my teams state but if I see a descent talent from another state I might try get him but it depends

Getting a player(s) that dont have interest in ur team is the best thing about recruiting especially if ur not in the TOP 10

OFF-TOPIC-I might play NCAA 13 until NCAA 14 comes out !!

Re: How much time do you spend recruiting?

I've been as thorough as the game has allowed me to be.

Does height and weight matter in the game?

Nope, then it doesn't matter to me when recruiting.

Do schemes really matter in the game?

Nope, then it doesn't matter to me when recruiting.

I mostly recruit pipelines, but not for any other reason than those guys tend to have my school within 200 points of their top school in the pre-season.

I simply follow the established "rules" for getting a good recruiting class. Add 10-12 prospects that have me high on their list, and get my pitches to open up and them spam them over and over again until they commit.

If people have gotten lazy with the recruiting, it's because the game perpetuated it. Recruiting has needed a real makeover on NCAA for awhile.

So to completely answer your question, I put time into it, but I don't put much thought into it at all. It's a thoughtless button mashing session.

Re: How much time do you spend recruiting?

I usually spend about an hour on recruiting alone.

Height matters to me just at like WR and safeties the rest of it is just whatever. Weight doesnt bother me at all I dont see it affecting the game too much so I dont look for weight.

I look for mostly good players but if a 3 star fast wr is available ill take him use him in the return game until he touches the field at the wr postion.

Most of the time I recruit out of Texas, Florida and Pennsilvanya or however you spell it. Pipeline states have never been a chaser for me.

We have a rule in our dynasty were you can go after a player if you arent on his list. But if multiple people in the dynasty are going after him the first on the list has first rights for two weeks if you cant jump on the list after two weeks you have to drop him and stop going after him.

Re: How much time do you spend recruiting?

I only recruit:

Scrambling QB's
RB's/DB's with A agility
WR's over 6'
OL/DE over 6'4"
Receiving TE's
OLB's with good speed/agility

I always look at the players that have me as the number one team in the preseason and target the players that fit what I'm looking for. I then look through the other interested players and fill the rest of my board. I pretty much only recruit 10 guys at a time.

Re: How much time do you spend recruiting?

I usually go after a certain group...

I like to get scrambling QB's unless one of the top tier QB's interested and he isnt a scrambler.

I like big RB's and big WR's. WR's have to almost always be over 6 feet.

My CB's and S's have to have speed, speed and more speed.

I also like my LB's to be fas and my DE's to be run stoppers.

Once I have a number I like on my board I try to spread the minutes out evenly.

Re: How much time do you spend recruiting?

I had a streamlined method of sorting (which is a great tool) 5,4,3,2,1 star players with me in the top 5.

Then I scrub them from there. Of course grabbing as many 5,4 and 3 star players but I have landed a few 2 star players that have panned out big time.

This year though with the dynamic recruiting unlocking actual ratings I will be a little more detailed. I spend about an hour on recruiting for every game played.
