First Review for 09 in. 9.0 from O.P.M.

Was over on the Fifa boards this morning and they had a link to the first 09 review from OPM, which are notorious PES fans. It gives Fifa09 a 9.0 after a 6.0 for last year. This is on the heels of their preview saying that 09 was possibly a threat to PES. Now I was going to post a link to the scanned article, but they were removed due to copyright issues. But that didn't happen until those scans made it to my HDD. So if you'd like to see it, let me know. I'll send them to you. Brian

Heh... Yeah I just saw that...

I'm still gonna have to play the game for myself though. Find me gaming press that's on the level and knows what they're talking about, and I'll... Well, you won't find me any... So there's no need really.

The same magazine gave PES 2008 an 8.0 last year.

See what I mean?

(edit: actually the UK edition gave it a 9.0, and the US edition gave it an 8.0... Which just proves my point even more)

Wow, it is always good to see reviews from people who didn't like 08. Sounds like they were in line with people like me who couldn't get into 08. If they are saying that about 09, EA may have really made a big jump.

I've been really impressed with EA when they really put effort into a game. For example, NHL 07 was a mess, but they made huge improvements in 08. Hopefully this is the year Fifa makes that huge leap.

Yeah, from reading that article you'd have no idea the guy was a PES fanbot.

He definitely gives it a glowing review, but then this is coming from a guy that thinks the PES Master League is "genius".

I thought the PES "loyalist" on the last page in the box was funny. It was killing him to give props. "Close but not better." To each his own, but I find it funny a journalist would sound like a begruding fanboy. But hey, with them being as they are, I'm really encouraged that they gave it a 9.0! Brian

Let's not even go there. Even you have to admit PES was a flop. Even SEABASS admitted it wasn't good. Oh, by the way, I'll be waiting for you on Fifa09! Brian

The only "flop" of PES was the online play. Many reasonable people would agree with the 8 for PES and 6 for Fifa (and of course vice versa).
