GM Connected Q&A on EA Forums

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/8849625.page

There is a Q&A going on in the EA Forums about GM Connected. People from the community event are answering what they can.

Quote:
I believe this will be asked frequently so I will explain it here best I can.

GM Connected uses the real NHL schedule. To play the games, the commissioner selects a "tick length," which can be anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks I believe. The length of this tick represents actual weeks of an NHL schedule. So when you enter your GM Connected, you will see all the games your NHL team has scheduled in real life as playable during that tick.

So for example, let's say I'm the Flyers, and the commissioner sets the league tick for 2 weeks. The first time I start my GM Connected as Philly, I will see all their games on the first two weeks of the schedule, let's say October 11-25.

THU OCT 11, 2012 BRUINS FLYERS 7:00 PM
SAT OCT 13, 2012 FLYERS ISLANDERS 7:00 PM
THU OCT 18, 2012 PENGUINS FLYERS 7:00 PM
SAT OCT 20, 2012 JETS FLYERS 7:00 PM
THU OCT 25, 2012 FLYERS CANADIENS 7:30 PM

Now the game will show whether these teams are human or AI controlled, and I can play them in any order. So if the GM of the Penguins is on but the Bruins guy isn't, I can still play my game against the Penguins even though it isn't "next" on the schedule.

The length of time for advancing the tick will be informal and vary league by league. So let's say your league decides that you will advance your schedule every REAL 5 days. So you have 5 days to play all your league games and once the commish advances, any unplayed games will be simmed. The schedule will then change to October 26-November 9, and you will have all your team's games from those two weeks available to play in the next five days, and so on.

Re: GM Connected Q&A on EA Forums

here's a summary...

- 82 game season (only option)
- commish picks a "tick length", 3 days to 2 weeks of actual NHL schedule
- you can play games WITHIN each "tick length" in any order
- commish must manually advance league to next tick
- unplayed games get simmed
- commish approves all trades, FA and waiver moves
- you can use current rosters or CPU auto-draft for a fantasy style league. NO user drafts, but GM's do have some pre-draft ranking options
- salary cap on/off option
- players can join multiple leagues, but be on only 1 team per league
- skaters are position locked, line changes on
- custom sliders - TDB, community day guys are trying to confirm

Don't forget the companion mobile app! iOS only though (at the moment).

And to answer the last Q, no custom sliders but you can choose any game style or skill level, so Hardcore / Superstar all the way down to Casual / Rookie.

No custom sliders? Now that just blows my mind. I really do not understand why not.

Also, NO CUSTOM ROSTERS. Confirmed on page 6 of the EA thread. You can only use the latest EA roster update or randomized rosters.

This new GM Connected mode just got A LOT worse for me. I was going to play it instead of BaGM. But now that I can't use Matty's rosters (with my own few tweaks) I will not be playing this mode.

Re: GM Connected Q&A on EA Forums

Hopefully there are custom sliders.

Also is there a cpu fantasy draft where everyone picks teams and the cpu randomly picks players in a fantasy draft? Don't understand why humans can't do that...
