Way to prevent retiring players?

I have come across this in every Be A GM I have started in NHL 15, I get to the offseason and big named guys retire, most notably every single time after having played just one season Zdeno Chara retires and yet guys like Tim Thomas and Jaromir Jagr are still in the game on a team the next season. Is there anyway to combat this?

I would imagine it's a random age the gets selected at the start of the season, or possibly just a random chance thing for guys over a certain age.

Sadly, as with most things in EA's NHL, you're stuck with it as far as I can tell.

I play with the Rangers and the problem I run into is not only Dan Boyle retiring after year 1 but also that his contract disappears. If he actually retires his full amount is still going to count against the cap but the game doesn't reflect that giving me way too much cap space.

Yeah, I can't stand when young players retire early. Hopefully they can correct this in NHL 16.
