Re: Baltimore Ravens: A New Era
Great job on your franchise. Did I read that the running back you drafted was 6'4 245!?! Wow

Re: Baltimore Ravens: A New Era
Asa Up Their Sleeve Asa Reese's Catch In Double Coverage Seals Game
Heros and Goats Heros Asa Reese- Had some big catches down the stretch including the game winning touchdown where he "mossed" two defensive backs on a fade route. Darren McFadden and Marshawn Lynch These running backs broke numerous tackles and played tough football. McFadden trucked a linebacker and outran everyone on his 80 Yard TD run. Kellen Moore-Kellen Moore looked poised and he had a good performance. Was pinpoint accurate on certain plays. Shane Gumpert- The UDFA was all over the field making tackles and showed off his solid tackling skills. Jorvante Haynes-Route Running looked really sharp and caught two passes in traffic which was a main weakness for the speedster. Clayton Favors- Moore took a shot and Favors made an excellent catch with the corner draped all over him. Goats Duvon Carter- The fourth round draft pick dropped two passes and did not show off good blocking Latwan Kirk- "Captain Kirk" received time at #1 corner and his man-to-man coverage was inconsistent and he missed several tackles which led to extra yardage. DeAngelo Hall- Hall is 34 years old and played like it. He was burned two times during man to man coverage. Reserve Linebackers-All backup linebackers besides Shane Gumpert struggled making tackles. Irvin Mills tore up the defense. |

Week 1 Cuts
Lajarvis Tigner, FB- Tigner did not block too well and let's face it, is a fullback who can't block really that useful? Raynard Washington, OLB- Washington was exposed and missed many tackles. Brandan Honani, P- No the UDFA with a leg capable of punting only 45 yards will not dethrone Sam Koch. Brendon Webster, K- Webster looked good in training camp but does not have the leg or accuracy of Kevin Goessling. |

Re: Baltimore Ravens: A New Era
Preseason Recap Week 2 The Ravens lose 24-10 against the San Diego Chargers in a poorly played game. The run game struggled mightily. Baltimore's four running backs combined for 46 yards on 21 carries. The lack of run game equated to a poor pass game as well. Kellen Moore was not as sharp as the first week going 9/25 for 126 yards. Jorvante Haynes had a good game including a nice 24 yard reception on 3rd and 19 on the sideline. The protection for the Ravens quarterbacks were etrocious as Kellen Moore was sacked 6 times in just 2 quarters. Undrafted rookie Shane Gumpert shined again collecting 6 tackles and an interception that he took back 45 yards to the opposing 2 yard line. Reserve cornerback Ashpa Cooper also had an interception. Week 2 Cuts Bruce Fisilau- Fisilau has a nice arm but is way too inaccurate to be even considered a project. Shakir Sparks- Giving up 2 sacks in one quarter to three string D-Linemen isn't a good sign. Garrod Armstrong- Armstrong never sunk in as a depth D-Linemen. Marquis Cook- Cook struggled to make tackles on outside runs. Week 3 The Baltimore first team offense got to play for the last time during preseason. Joe Flacco showed off his elite arm strength on a 71 yard bomb to Torrey Smith in the first quarter. Later in the quarter, he would hook up with Smith again for a 18 yard touchdown. The Ravens defense struggled to contain back-up running back Keliko Cole. Cole had a field day rushing for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns. The small shifty back broke numerous tackles on the 2nd team Ravens defense. For the Ravens, Shane Gumpert has been the pleasant surprise of the preseason. The undrafted rookie had a 7 tackle performance and added a forced fumble. B.J. Singer recorded a sack in the third quarter. Darren McFadden had a solid day on the ground rushing for 48 yards on 10 carries and scoring the game winning touchdown with 50 seconds left. Jorvante Haynes and DeSean Jackson each had 4 catches and played well in the second half. Haynes also dazzled on special teams returning a kickoff 60 yards. The Ravens got the victory 27-24. Week 3 Cuts Duvon Carter-The fourth round pick failed to show ANY promise. He dropped numerous passes and did not block well. Casey Beasley-The reserve linemen has limited upside and is expendable Chad Kirton-Missed a lot of tackles and was outplayed greatly by Shane Gumpert. Takoby Griffin-The Safety was strong in run support but unfortunately is not great in coverage. Bryce Johnson- Didn't play horrible but is expendable. Oliver Hosey- The Ravens had hopes for this UDFA but he has not even recorded a hurry in three games. Jewone Duncan- Duncan struggled in coverage and what's a corner that can't cover. Sean Anguiano- Does not have the strength to play DE in the NFL. Week 4 The Ravens concluded their preseason in Lambeau Field. Andrew Medlock got the start and fired on all cylinders with 3 touchdown passes in the first half to Jordy Nelson, Josh Porter and Jeremy Maclin. The Packers stout run defense caused the running backs to play poorly. Marshawn Lynch(12-16), Jordin Bledsoe(14-24), Deantre Morris(4-4) all could not find any running lanes. Receiving wise, Jorvante Haynes capped off a spectacular preseason with a 8 catch, 143 yard performance. Josh Porter had 4 catches for 57 yards as well. The Ravens defense shutout the Packers offense. 3rd Round pick Tamani Pearson had an interception and the Ravens run defense was stout. Trovon Miles and Edwin Ford each forced a fumble. Week 4 Cuts Carter Whitney- Did not seal the edge at all on a day where Ravens running backs had a 1.12 YPC. Phillip Sampson- Sampson has potential but is way to raw to be used anytime this season. Ben Walters- Like how all of the cuts are linemen? Wes Mills- This was the 54th man. Mills has potential but like Sampson is raw and should not see the field this season. |
