Re: ground ball to short, to second, to second, to second, to second
I use auto fielding and manual throw.
I also was having same problem as you, I figured out that you can not press the button to early, if you do the guy just hold ont onto the ball...I hit the throw button just as the ball gets to the fielder. Its all timing, you will get used to it.Comment

Unfortunately Jim, it is a timing thing. Most times I hit it right, but tonight I don't and Cano lets Orlando Cabrera beat out a routine GB.
I try to time it by pressing when the ball is about to hit the glove. Good luck dude. It will come.Formerly Favre4vrComment

Every once in a while I get tripped up.
It's best to not assume that that first button press will work. The suggestion above to tap the circle button a few times is a good one.
I just sometimes forget to do it.Comment

Re: ground ball to short, to second, to second, to second, to second
I actually switched from manual to auto fielding last night (I find the cons outweigh the pros of manual fielding), and let me tell you, the timing is totally different to turn 2 on auto. With manual, I would hold circle down well before the ball got to 2nd base and it would work just fine, but with auto fielding the guy just holds on to the ball.
The good news is that it just takes some practice. Start up a game where you switch to the team on the field every half-inning, int walk the first guy, and get some practice turning two. My new rule of thumb at this point is to not hit circle until the guy at 2nd has that "circle thingy" around him. The natural tendency is to press circle to early, but it just takes patience.Comment

On a double play ball to the ss, you have to pre-load the throw to second before the ss gets the ball. When the throw is in the air to the 2b, you should already have pressed the button for first base. If the 2b already caught it, the cpu takes over for its animations and does not acknowledge the command to continue, causing you to have that pause.
Fielding is the one area I hope gets a redo, the cpu has too much input on the manual level.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Originally posted by nemesis04When do you press for the second baseman to throw to first? The throwing system is so dependent on pre-loading because of all the cpu controlled animations. If you do not tell it what to do ahead of time, your player stands there like a doof.
