Then why need to have an EXCLUSIVE license. Couldn't they simply do their h2h competitive and MUT modes, and allow another dev to make a sim.
It's clear at this point that they either have no desire to create an offline single player franchise mode (or perhaps just don't have enough talent).
By allowing another developer create a mode of gameplay that EA won't, it wouldn't affect their Madden sales. So, why not?
Just wishful thinking, I know. But God, it sure would be nice to play a working, deep, immersive franchise mode for the first time in a long while.

Unfortunately it would take a miracle for EA to lose their exclusiveness with the NFL.

Best case scenario is they come out with Head Coach again, but incorporate the gameplay into.

I would much rather see franchise mode as it's own game so I didn't have to deal with anything else that I'll never play.

Always been about money and not about product quality. After playing Madden 18 for the past few weeks I've realized it's basically Madden 17. Oh cool we have frostbite engine now and the stadium and weather looks cool..but franchise and gameplay gets shafted.

Right now, EA sells 100% of the NFL games on the market. You are suggesting they NOT sell 100% of the market. Voluntarily. There is 0 reason to do this.

I also think it's not just EA that wants the exclusive license. The NFL has been directing singular 'exclusive' licensing contracts with many products and vendors over the past few years, so there's no reason the NFL would want a competitor to a known, reliable marketing partner like EA Sports.

But the OP's original point is valid. If there is no continuing interest in developing improved CPU AI, then today's and tomorrow's sales will be driven by a demographic that doesn't understand, or even care, about operating an NFL franchise. In other words, a larger percentage of Madden customers lack the will or patience for CFM, and only want to 'DOMINATE THEIR MUT...blah blah blah...'!

The marketplace has spoken, and sim players will have to look elsewhere someday. At least it's still fun today.

Play a 32 man CFM on All-Madden, Sim. People who have been practicing on Competitive are in for a RUDE awakening. The defense plays the ball.....jumps routes....reacts to receivers and don't drop wide open INTs.
