Did they ever fix injuries?

I was actually really enjoying my time with Madden 23, Gameplay wise thought it felt amazing.

But the lack of injuries outside of your lineman and LB's kinda ruined it for me. I don't think out of all the games i've played i've ever seen a QB injury and maybe like 2-3 HB injuries.

Been getting that itch to play again though, were these ever patched?

Thanks!

Re: Did they ever fix injuries?

No. You will see injuries everywhere, just lots more for linemen.
It seems to be a dice roll based on collision/contact. Linemen are in contact every play, other positions less so, especially QBs* so less injuries.

I think there is also some protection for QBs to avoid a Madden game going to an emergency QB situation.

I have a theory that QB injuries are tied to progressive fatigue. In the seasons I was testing PF I saw a few in game QB injuries but since turning it off I haven’t.

You see front seven defensive players and olinemen plenty but not so much anything else and only qbs if simming.

Only seeing 1 or 2 penalties a game bothers me ALOT more though.

Re: Did they ever fix injuries?

Yeah QB and RB injuries are super rare. There is no way to raise them without raising everything and then your line will be all backups. I had Hurts get injured in 1 game last season and it was only for a 1/2. I also have a 32 team franchise and through 2 weeks not one QB injury.

My only RB injury last season was a practice injury.

Probably another example of the devs saying it’s not fun so instead of allowing us to adjust they just make it across all modes. Can’t let us play how we want. It’s frustrating how close this is to being a great game but these little things really kill immersion.

I mean, all you have to do to get more injuries is just lower the injury attribute for certain players. I subtract all starting QB injury by -40, giving a range of 55-70, instead of the 90's across the board.

Re: Did they ever fix injuries?

It's not that bad, and probably as good as it's been. What's needed is
  • Remove the magic armour for QBs
  • Allow non-collision injuries (this would get to players other than OL, DL and LB)
  • Make the ING and TGH ratings really matter, and make them drop big time for older players. What's the problem with older players? It shouldn't be that they forget their pass rush moves or blocking techniques, but that their injury resistance falls off a cliff.

Re: Did they ever fix injuries?

Honestly QBs and RB used to get injured a ton and it would screw with rosters. My guess is they adjusted the percentages that those positions get injured in the code and overdid it to a point where there aren’t enough.

The CPU used to often keep only 2 QBs. I haven’t checked if that is still the case. The roster management by the CPU isn’t great so it’s probably an easy fix rather than go in and adjust the entire roster management and injury system.
