What's the "Protect Ball" button for 360?

I just played an online game and both teams combined for 6 fumbles, including DeSean Jackson fumbling on two kickoffs. I was lucky to get out with a win.

Anyways, I think it's one of the bumpers, but I can't remember, and I lost my manual a long time ago. Also, whichever one it is, what does the other one do?

There is also a menu you can go to in game under settings that tells you what all the buttons do.

It has a really obscure name though... what was it again?

have you ever looked at this menu..? it is totally useless!

the game says that while engaged on defense, the R stick does "nothing" ...but uhmm, the R stick is the new and improved defensive moves...

Since the manual will obviously remain a joke after years of kinko B&W copies -- EA should pony up and create a website with all the FAQs that this board gets flooded with repeatedly.
