Serious Talk: Pocket passing

I subscribe to the believe that Madden should implement a pocket, but it's not #1 on my list. Realistically speaking, after a 3 step drop, the ball is supposed to be OUT of the QB's hands. In general, the ball is supposed to be out as soon as possible.

With that said, do you really think the average person has the mental skills of a QB to read a defense and react in a timely enough fashion to even utilize a pocket?

The reason why people drop back SO FAR is because they are scared of being sacked. He has to look at himself AND the field, much like the panic that REAL NFL QBs face, except that they have such a knowledge of the playbook and the game, that they can overcome it.

With that being said, how can madden Effectively implement a pocket and cater to the ignorance of the average, casual fan's football IQ? because in today's madden, u can stand in the pocket area if you want, but it's just fearful because we aren't skilled enough to do so

Just have a sim mode and a more arcade mode. Other than that they need to stop catering to the casual gamer. Hardcore gamers are the ones that will support the game, yet we get the short of end of the stick. Let them adjust to the gameplay.

Yes, to all above questions. People would adjust and start making proper reads/throws.

it's HARD to adjust to gameplay because pocket passing is a difficult skill on and off the game. Now, I KNOW the plays in my playbook and who my first option is, etc. But I think Madden is goin to have to minimize the effectiveness of pass rush and blitzes in order to formulate an effective pocket.

I don't think it is the issue of catering to the casual gamers but more so the laziness of the company. The pocket means developing new code and EA is done with the hard coding of the game for at least this generation.

True, improve o line AI but it is the same o-line AI for the past ten years.

I definitely don't doubt that Tiburon is lazy.

Re: Serious Talk: Pocket passing

okay, I know people hate canned animation in general, but what if they had a canned animation where the QB drops back in the pocket, instead of having the user take control instantly. Or at least have plays broken down by 3-step, 5-step, 7 step pass, so the user can know.

I KNOW that won't sit well with everyone, but i'm just brainstorming.
