How Important Is the Trench Battle:

Seven of the first seven NFL Draftees selected in the, 2013 NFL Draft, all battle in the trenches.

Some may say this is due to a weak, star powered list of names at the skilled positions but how can you dispute the priority in these picks?

Is this draft scenario sufficient to suppose a top priority focus on the trenches is needed in Madden, at least for NxGen?

Damn I was just thinking the same thing. Just goes to show you what EA has been focused on this whole generation. Hopefully we get a change in the next. I'd like my O-line and D-line to really matter. Imagine having to actually consider all positions when drafting, and it actually mattering, lol.

Anyone who knows me knows my position on the matter. It's the same offensively and defensively...a QB can't throw the ball from the ground.

Re: How Important Is the Trench Battle:

100% co-sign.

It's time EA. We need a true (incredibly done) overhaul to OL/DL play. Including a TON of new animations for both the o-line and d-line(250+). Defensive ends that get up the field and a true pocket created. Ratings that truly matter and work across the board. Animations that represent struggle and true impact, not this static lock up and dance animations we have had forever. The ability for Olineman and Dlineman to actually drive their counterpart both laterally, and up and down the field.

All new controls for D-line as well. I love playing with d-lineman and d-ends in football games but it has been incredibly boring this entire generation. There is no fun, realism, or strategy to playing a d-lineman or pass rusher in your game.

Lastly, please re-write how the QB moves. No more of this running all over and heaving passes across your body. This is on particular area that 2k did very well, you should look at that and make it better.

Once those areas are completely overhauled, as well as movement (footplanting, running animations, acceleration, deceleration, momentum), and DB/Wr interactions (add the fifa josteling system and build on it). We can start calling this a SIM game.

These will be the 4 main areas I am looking at as soon as that next-gen footage drops. Please make this happen EA...

This is what I'm looking for too. It looks like some of this is being worked on for Madden 25, hopefully it's done well.

Re: How Important Is the Trench Battle:

During the draft we saw Eric Fisher and Lane Johnson described as "nasty" whereas Justin Pugh was called a "technician." Dion Jordan's great technique - with his hands and his feet - was a contrast to Ziggy Ansah's reliance on pure athleticism. I want to see the same in Madden. Right now OL all play the same, and DL are pretty close. At best you have access to some extra pass rush moves depending on your stats, but I don't feel that captures very much of what truly separates players.
