Zone Hitting/Step Hitting/Influence Hitting

Hey just to clear up confusion to those asking in a variety of threads, ZONE HITTING is an alternate control available to the users in addition to the step timing way of swinging.

Influence hitting is available with the default controls.

Zone hitting is an alternate control and available from the pause menu.

So does that make 3 types of hitting, If so which do you prefer??

Zone hitting with Step Influence that uses swing stick would be the most complex and my preference. The user would then have 100% over the control of his swing and ideally the directional outcome of the hit.

Pulling the ball in the air would be the result of swinging early and directing your swing slightly under the center of the ball...not just pressing up and left with the left stick.

Thanks for posting that. Now, can zone hitting be utilized in conjunction with the swing stick, or is it a button-hitting option only? That's what I want to know.

They took a timing versus zone poll on the SCEA forum and the vote was split 50-50. I was surprised so many people prefer timing. But the collective gamer-age over there is probably 53 years old, so it makes some sense.

From what I understand, the Zone Hitting would be with the swing/step scheme of hitting. So to set it straight, there's two types:

Zone hitting with step/stick influence

Timing with just Stick

Now I'm really confused. When you say step/stick influence, do you mean step-influence, or hit-influence, or both? And why would they have a timing swing without any influence option? 2K7 had timing with hit-influence (down = ground ball; up = fly ball), so I assume they're at least offering that option again...?
