Timing Hitting

Anyone know if timing hitting, where you just have to hit one button to hit is still an option with this years game. It is all I used last year, and would be very disappointed if they took it out of this years game. With all of the changes being made I was kind of worried they would remove it.

It is still in the game.

They don't remove things like this.

Re: Timing Hitting

For the last two years for me, its come down to Zone vs Timing. I'm not sure which I'll pick. I've sided with timing in the end, because with zone I always have such a hard time drawing walks. But with timing, I get fewer hits. This year, with the expanded timing window, I'll be interested to see which gameplay type plays better for me, zone or timing. My suspician will be, timing hitting will be the shining star of batting modes when it comes to sim results. The big downside of timing hitting the past two years was the ridiculously low batting averages. All that changes this year, hopefully.

why aren't more people using analog hitting, it seems like it's the most realistic and fun to me, you aren't just pressing a bottom and you need to time your stride. something you don't have to do when using timing hitting right?

I find that I like zone still because I really don't like the way the animation is with the analog controls. It makes the game feel much more artificial in a way. I like analog hitting in concept, but I don't like what it does to the animation of the swings since you want to get good timing and not make the swing look pretty.

Here's an example of Jose Bautista. With analog you can't start his swing early to where he has the big leg kick and then lands as he swings. You have to start a bit late to get good timing, but then the animation looks weird in those cases. http://youtu.be/Z3aEjFoXWPs?t=1m4s

With zone or timing you get the full animation and timing on the swings. http://youtu.be/sjB9elR-oRM?t=4m28s

I do like the feel of analog hitting, but I'd rather get the swing animations of zone and timing.

I'm too old to be learning new gameplay types. With a fulltime job, wife, house, and all that other stuff that goes with life, I just like to sit down and enjoy a good baseball game for an hour or so each day after work. I stick to what I'm used to. lol
