Player Progression

Its been a while [MLB 10] since i really got deep into franchise [few years or more] so i was wondering how progression has advanced since then.

I mean say a player has a renaissance year, like a mid 30's vet, and hits .320 with 200 hits.
How will he look in the following season?
Will he automatically drop down?
WIll his age keep him trending downwards?

Also, on a side note, how's player streaks working? In my limited time last year, I didn't feel guys FELT truly in a slump when they were.

thanks

Progression is age/potential driven.....regression is mainly age driven.
There is a random factor there(so it's not as methodic)...but it's not stat driven.

Streaks....are really an indicator of past performance(say the last XX AB's).....
There is a slight boost/drop to ratings...I'm not sure if the icon(hot/cold) is the indicator of that or not.
