As someone who works in a marketing adjacent role, this is not a marketing issue. This is a "we did nothing substantial to improve the game" issue so marketing is scrambling for scraps here.

Marketing can only work with what they're given. The elephant in the room is that this game and development team reeks of stagnation.

I dunno. There’s a woman named Mollie Braley who appears to be behind this. From what I have read. If devs may have been ordered to build this (as well as the 2nd addition of the negro leagues) I would think that would take up a lot of their time. Just guessing.

So does everyone think it's time for another developer to give MLB a shot if they could? SDS just doesn't seem to want to make this game better year in and year out. I mean, they add things but it's not the things people are looking for in the game. It's like they've run out of ideas on how to make this game shine, or just don't give af anymore.
They're becoming more and more like EA Sports and Madden. Pretty sad considering how amazing this game use to be.
I still buy it year after year but I'm just losing interest in it a lot sooner than I used to.

They can, they choose not to. As far as we know, Sony’s license with MLB isn’t exclusive.
