Online Franchise Still Playable?

So from watching the developer streams it is my understanding that they didn't touch online franchise at all. There was also a thread on here about online franchise and everyone griping about it.

Every year me and some of my friends do an online franchise together with just 3 of us and then rest of the teams are CPU controlled. We don't play every game that way we can finish a few seasons. With the OSFM rosters out I'm just curious, is online franchise still playable? Can we still play games and simulate CPU games and know that we will be able to advance to the next season like past years? I don't mind that the schedule hasn't changed and that the progression is still like last year.

Although I am one of the many in the thread unhappy with the mode being untouched, myself and 3 friends are in a franchise together.

It was unplayable as far as User Games up until this last patch and at a time we were at a standstill due to games being unable to sim. But by the looks of things, it's back on track and very much playable, in fact we're about 3-4 games away from the playoffs.
