Why does this game punish you for taking jump shots?

I hate to toot my own horn but I think my timing is almost perfect on release for jumpshots.

However, and I feel this is a problem for video game basketball games as a whole.. it's almost flat out impossible to sink a jumper. I probably sink 1 out of 10 per game, which means, like always, I have to go inside for my baskets. I'm taking jumpshots.. on NBA average I should be able to make 4 out of 10 or so.. but I don't. Why is this? Steve Francis and Grant Hill are not flat out awful jump shooters, as they range between 80-82 for mid range shots and 94-99 for close range shots depending on the game. Yet, for some reason when I shoot it's more like .8-.82 for mid range shots and .94-.99 for close range shots? Again.. why is this? I have flat out NO reason to take ANY jump shots because I always miss.

I should not have to adjust sliders to get halfway decent results. Heck, ESPN College Hoops 2K5 gets it right for the most part when taking shots! I commend that game for getting it right and I enjoy playing that game but I think this game is just meant to be simmed. Again, I hate to pat myself on the back, but it's not me that's bad at this game :P

Okay.. okay.. this game's a bit weird :O

I get trashed against Houston.. lose by 40.. miss open looks with release at the top of the jumpshot..

Then I play Grizzlies(same sliders).. I WIN(!) 90-75.. I hit contested shots where I felt I didn't get good releases and Francis actually went 7-10 :| This is one of the strangest games I've ever played

I make good amounts of jumpshots. Just about the same you see on TV.

Must be you or your sliders . Like I tell everyone else, turn the MIDRANGE SHOT slider UPPPPPPPP

same w/me. i sink a good amount of j's. dropped 44 on minny w/allan houston. i cant lie it did take a lot of practice. one thing i can help you with is 3's. the whole form is different.....its more of a quick tap then holding it down. as far inside the 3 its more of holding it to the top of the release. oh and it helps to watch the hand the shooter has the ball in.....when you see the hand the ball is in go above the shooter's face you should be letting go of the ball.

same w/me. i sink a good amount of j's. dropped 44 on minny w/allan houston. i cant lie it did take a lot of practice. one thing i can help you with is 3's. the whole form is different.....its more of a quick tap then holding it down. as far inside the 3 its more of holding it to the top of the release. oh and it helps to watch the hand the shooter has the ball in.....when you see the hand the ball is in go above the shooter's face you should be letting go of the ball.

I think that the offensive awareness has a big part of this game. The guy from RU has 86 3pt and 80 midrange ratings which are pretty good. But I am hard pressed to sink a decent amount of open looks. It strange that over half of the wide open shots clank off the rim while the CPU has a regular dunkfest with every team in the game.

Yea.. that's something I've always wished for all, or most sports games at least. Even with equal slider settings the CPU does stuff humans are never able to do :|

I base my offense usually around making jumpshots and I have no problem making them off picks etc., I'm surprised to hear that.

You know what's werid? In my games, the other team drives to the hole an awful lot. They rarely take outside jumpers(3's especiallly). Strange......
