NBA 2K(9) Questions for PS3 Owners

I'm seriously looking into buying a Playstation 3, and I'm thinking of getting NBA 2K9 for it as well. I have an Xbox 360 and will definitely get NBA 2K9 for the Xbox 360 to play on XBL. I have some questions for those that owns a PS3 along with NBA 2K8:

1. I've read that the PS3 can connect up to seven (!) controllers at once. How many controllers can I connect to play 2K8 on the same (1) console? The NBA 2K8 game profile for the PS3 says 1-6 players. If that's for offline play, can I play (co-op) with all six controllers on the same team?

2. How is the online play for NBA 2K8? I've read that it lags noticeably more than on XBL, but is it enough to really distract from the gameplay? On average, what's the number of PS3 online players playing NBA 2K8 as compared to the X360 players? Significantly less? Slightly less? About the same?

3. Any other games that allows you to use up to seven controllers at once?

I'd be very appreciative if someone would answer a couple of my questions. Thanks!

I recall reading 2k7 having 7 player support.

AFAIK there are a very limited of 7 player games, if any at all.

I'd definitely get NBA 2K9 for the PS3 if it does indeed supports co-op play of up to six or seven controllers offline. On occasions, I have up to eight people that wants to play co-op (offline, of course), but the X360 only allows up to four controllers. We had to play with one CPU controlled player, and it messes with the way we play and run plays.

NCAA Football '09 says it supports 1-12 players. That's gotta be for online play.

I believe it is 6 or 7 players on a single console. As you mentioned, the system supports 7 wirelessly. I believe that you can only play 5 on a single team, though; there is a player lock feature, but I don't think it allows you to player lock to the bench, only the five positions.

Slightly fewer daily connects, I believe. However, from what I've heard (and I have yet to connect to a random opponent), the opponents are mostly cheesers. Leagues never go through to completion, but that's just the people who do it, not the game.

As for the game, 2K8 doesn't have league sites hosted by 2K for the PS3; however, they said it will be in 2K9. (Xbox 360 and PS2 have leagues that get their own website hosted on the 2K network.) I can't speak from experience, but the biggest problem with lag was on free throws. From what I've heard, they've patched it, but it may still occur. Other than that, it's prone to the same (minor) hiccups as off-line, except exaggerated, in some cases. It's still playable, but differently so.

Hmm... not out of games that I play, except I thought Madden could. I think it was more than 4. Your best bet would probably be sports games. First-person shooters, for instance... it's hard to host a local multiplayer for 7 people -- the split screen would be horrible!
