I know the PS2 continued making NBA 2K games for a very long time after the PS3 came out. Will the PS3 and Xbox 360 follow that trend..?

Why not? The can release the same version of the game every year and people would still buy it.

Truth. Just found some lost PS2 NBA 2K6... err 2K12 footage. I'm pretty sure I saw Derek Fisher's .4 shot and some 2K3 intro pieces on the pre-game scoreboard montage.
