NBA Live 14: Coach Settings Talk

hey guys, just wanted to make this thread and take any talk away from clogging up Tomba's adjustment thread.

what we have to work with..
---

Coach Options

Offense
Offensive Rebound Tactic: Get Back, Balance, Crash Boards
Temp: Slow, Balanced, Push

Defense
On Ball Pressure: Auto, Loose, Normal, Tight
Off Ball Pressure: Auto, Loose, Normal, Tight
Ball Screens: Switch, Under All, Over/Show, Over/Trap,Down/Baseline, Over/Hard Edge, Over/Mirror, Under/Show, Under/Hard Edge, Under/Mirror
Force Direction: Normal, Left, Right, Baseline, Middle, Weak Hand, Strong Hand
Off Ball Screens: Switch, Over, Under, Under All
In Post: Auto, Front, Behind, Bottom Side, Top Side
Double Team Perimeter: User Triggered, On Drive, On Catch,
Double Team Post: User Triggered, On Catch, On Dribble

---

thats what we got to work with, not much, but its at least something to work with.

if you look at all the teams coaching options the ONLY setting that is set different for the most part by team is the "Ball Screens" option. everything else is set to the same on defense. all teams are set to the same on offense except the Cavs and Nuggets, the both set to slow temp and get back for rebounds.

ive tried about 12 games with the double teams set to on catch, on drive, on dribble, on drive etc. i cant play any other way than with it set to User Triggered (which is auto for the CPU teams) bc i know exactly where and when the double is coming from. makes it to easy for me to find the open man.

with that said, any information out there that we can adjust the teams a bit different with all other settings?

i came up with a temp list based on the current stats etc from here (kudos to Tomba for that link in a PM)..
http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/tea...ort/paceFactor
---

Tempo

Slow
Wizards
Celtics
Pacers
Kings
Raptors
Bobcats
Jazz
Bulls
Bucks
Nets
Knicks
Grizzles

Balanced

Rebounding

Crash Boards
Rockets
Thunder
Bulls
Nuggets
76ers
Wolves
Blazers

Balanced
Pistons
Pacers
Cavs
Pelicans
Lakers
Warriors
Bobcats
Clippers
Raptors
Spurs
Kings

Get Back
Suns
Celtics
Magic
Wizards
Nets
Grizzlies
Mavs
Jazz
Hawks
Bucks
Knicks
Heat

Defense (both on and off ball would be same setting)

Tight
Pacers
Bobcats
Spurs
Bulls
Celtics
Heat
Grizzlies
Knicks
Raptors

Normal
Hawks
Thunder
Warriors
Pistons
Bucks
Suns
Cavs
Wizards
Blazers
Clippers
Kings
Rockets
Nuggets
Mavs
Wolves

Loose
Jazz
Pelicans
Nets
Lakers

these lists may not be perfect, but its a start to get some teams to look a bit different along with the synergy stuff.

i played the Clippers last night and they ran up and down on me, taking quick shots now and then. i couldn't stop them.

hopefully us guys playing this game can come up with a happy medium on coaches settings and enjoy the game for what it is.

by no means are these perfect, but im trying here LOL. just looking at stats and trying to come up with some stuff to get teams to play a bit different.

i know from playing vs the CPU while they used the "Loose" strategy, it was easy to score on them. so i figured, that could be the best way to see those teams give up points a bit more. again, not perfect, but its something.

trial and error here i guess. this game has me sucked in!

looks pretty good. too many blocks, and i dont know how i feel about howard only pulling down 7 boards but everything else looks good. could maybe use more turnovers but only looking at stats its hard to say. pip might be a little high also. looks solid for the most part though at least in terms of the stats.

Re: NBA Live 14: Coach Settings Talk

blocks and points in the paint are issues that will have to be addressed in a patch. so we shall see, but yeah, some of these games have been a blast. just fun to play.

just wondering if those changes have anything to do with the game flow or not. seems like it!

Re: NBA Live 14: Coach Settings Talk

First off love your work on now the now sadly defunct nhl2k series

The only problem i have is that VISUALLY if you make teams play like them selves with your settings the game might be say statisically pleasing it wont be visually

I like you tried a bunch of combos and even went with team specific stuff but game play was wonky as a mother

i will say this though i watches the nets vs the celtic last night and it looked more like nba live 14 then nba 2k14 to be honest

something about it deron williams DOES blow by cats and thats what live does have those crazy layups LOL

its trickey the settings i have are still solid for OVERALL game but NOT individualality i tried with the pacing and though teams kinda play like themselves it sinks i the animation department

Tomba first and foremost, your the best thing that happen to Live.

But this small thing I don't see the random( outside of the normal odd things) that you are talking about. I tried your settings first and most of it helped with the games issues. But your double team settings literally turned this into 2k. Random double teams leaving players wide open.

OP settings for on/off ball and offense are working nicely. Games vs the Heat and Warriors were completely different.

Only so much we can do but OP might be on to something.

Re: NBA Live 14: Coach Settings Talk

thanks for the kind words Tomba, appreciate it!

i would love to be able to figure out how teams utilize these three strats..

Ball Screens:
Force Direction:
Off Ball Screens:

those right there for me would be the last thing we could set for each team.

i did some google searches and came up empty of trying to see how teams guard one another.. i know these change on a night to night basis in the NBA, but would be nice to have them set a bit different and not have every team use the same stuff.

any sites you guys know of that may have this type of information?
