I had a terrible nightmare last night

I had a dream last night that my 6-year-old nephew was kidnapped.

In the dream, my mom and I took my nephew to a mall near home. It was fairly crowded, and we just lost him. We searched and searched. We just couldn't find him in the mall. We did the whole Amber Alert thing in the mall so that the mall went on lock-down. Nothing.

Later in the dream, we drove around near neighborhoods, hoping we would see him. We shouted his name, looked in bad neighborhoods... we did everything. No results.


I went to bed around midnight before having the dream, and I remember waking up from this dream and looking at my phone to see that it was 2:59 A.M. I had to wake up in 4 1/2 hours.

But I just didn't want to get back to sleep. It was one of those dreams that I'd rather just stay awake. I mean, I eventually got to sleep, but I had to think hard about other things so this nightmare wouldn't recur or continue.

I'm VERY close with my nephew. He lives with my parents at home (my sister is not in a condition to care for him), and he's such a great kid. This sort of thing is just REALLY frightening.


I just had to tell someone about that.

I read at a local newspaper about dreams. There's a column by a guy who's supposed to understand this stuff. I remember I read that what u see in a dream is not what would happen, but it's something symbolic. I'm not sure about that and I don't really know this issue, but maybe its got a point. Anyway, nephews are great! I have 2 (my brother's) and they're great, but they're out of control LOL. One of them decided about a year ago that he's not gonna talk to my dad (his grandpa) anymore. It makes me very upset because my dad loves them so much and buys them presents and really misses them. Well, last weekend there was a historic peace process between my dad and my nephew. It's like achieving peace in the middle east LOL.

I know its tough to have nightmares, I have them all the time. But don't worry. This only means that you love him very much, want the best for him, and want to see him succeed..

It could also mean you're afraid that one day your sister will be able to take care of him but have a relapse of some sort and something happens to him. At the very least the dream demonstrates that you love him with all your heart and that no matter what you'll be there for him no matter what happens.

I had a dream once where I lost my younger brother... very chilling. I know how you feel.

It was late and everything was dark... somehow I ended up running in the street as there were riots and fires going on... and I ended up getting hit by car... trapped between two cars from the waist down.

Then.. my girlfriend shows up with my brother. He was ok... I was dying... but I was just happy he was ok.

Crazy.

I used to have a dream back when I was in grade school. The dream stuck with me all the way to my high school days. I'd be in the bus and every time the bus would make a turn i'd be close to falling off the seat. This would continue for some time til finally I fall off the seat and get sucked down to the bottom as if I was being pulled into a black hole.

I'd always wake up sweating and scared.
