Tweaked slider settings for Inside Drive 2003.

I've played around 15-20 games so far and after 2 to 3 games I saw that the default way of playing was not the way to go.

GIve these a shot. I had two test games with these.

First game: Warriors @ Lakers, Position lock on SF( Jamison and Dunleavy)

2nd game:Warriors @ Lakers, Position lock on SF( Jamison and Dunleavy)

I can post stats if you'd like.

9 minute quarters
Fouls on strict, everything else ON.
ALL-STAR difficulty.

Speed
Default (MIddle position) for CPU and USER

Block
Default (MIddle position) for CPU and USER

Steals
-3 notches for CPU
-3 notches for USER

2 pointers
-2 notches for CPU
-2 notches for USER

3 pointers
-1 notches for CPU
-1 notches for USER

Free throws
Default (MIddle position) for CPU and USER

Dunks
-3 notches for CPU
-3 notches for USER

Dekes
-2 notches for CPU
-2 notches for USER

Hookshots
-1 notches for CPU
-1 notches for USER

I've done some major tweaking from game to game. Give them a shot against a team other than the Warriors and Lakers. Try Mavs and Kings.

Give me some impressions.

Explanations of what I did with the sliders can come your way. Just post a question and I can answer it.

Ps. I'm getting around 12-15 FT attempts a game. Many of them are AND 1's but you have to pick your poisions and i'm ok with this.

Move the speed slider down one.

With the settings set at what I posted, I'm getting 78-85 FG attempts a game.

Most teams average 80 FG attempts a game.

Things are looking good.

Are you doing anything special to draw fouls?
The lack of FT's got me lookin' at the front door.

Nothing really special.

I mean some games I'll have 2 FT attempts for my team and the next 13.

It changes every game.

I just try get my penetraters (Jason Richardson) into the lane to dunk. Most of the time, he wil get in the lane dunk it, and draw a foul.

His overall quickness is killing the opponents.

One note to add, In real life the warriors are averaging 30 FT attempts a game.

Maybe these video game makers dont want FT's in their games.

Here is one game from memory from earlier today.

Warriors @ Lakers

Lakers 57/99 fg % (58%). They ended the game making 10 straight buckets.

Warriors 43/98 fg % (44%). I shot 6/31 (19%) in the 4th qrt.

TOs: Lakers: 12 Warriors: 14
Steals: Lakers 9 Warriors: 11
Fouls: 13 each team.
Blocks: Lakers 8. Warriors 6
Assists: Lakers 40 Warriors 25

3 pt. shooting
Lakers: 4-12 (33%)
Warriors: 3-13 (23%)

Ft shooting
Lakers 8/13 (62%)
Warriors 10-15 (66%)

I ended up losing the game by over 20 points due to great laker defense and a hot shooting 4th qrt.

Antawn Jamison (Positon Locked player) had 30 points, on 13/28 shooting and a few FTs. Jason RIchardson shot 7/28 and ended up with 18 points.

Shaquille O'neal ended up with 44 points, 27 rebounds, 6 blocks, 1 steal, and 3 assists.

Kobe ended up with 20 points and Derek Fisher had 20.

Anybody give them a shot yet???

Re: Tweaked slider settings for Inside Drive 2003.

After playing another game, I find that it's basicially impossible to get anywhere near 20-30 FT attempts a game. I've tryed numerous methods and strategies, and I can't get past 16 FT attempts in one game.

What I'm thinking of doing now is, Leaving the 9 minute quarters as is, and let teams attempt upwords of 100 shots a game. The nba average is around 80, but the extra 20 shots can compensate for the FT attempts that we aren't able to obtain.

We just have to "give in" some way, while still trying to play realisiticially. I think by letting the FT's attempts slide and the 20+ extra FG attempts a game, this new way will be the most realistic offering of ID 2003.

If anybody is asking or thinking to themselves about the Dunks, Dekes, and Steals sliders I have set forth. I have some answers.

Even with the sliders set at what I have them at, the "All stars" still perform. Shaqille O'neal can still dominant. Players still steal the ball. The rate at which the steals occur may not differ much but at times, with the default sliders set, you'd see one guy get 3-4, maybe 5 steals in a row on multiple possessions. With the notches down 3, they have decreased and the steals are coming more realisticially.

I was watching SHaq play and he was making 10 foot Hook shots, non stop. After the decrease of 1 notch, I see Shaq making around 75% of those shots now, instead of 100%.

I use Shaq as "the determining slider position player".
I know he can't deke too much on the offensive end in real life. I decreased this slider 2 points because big guys like Shaq were performing crossovers and spin moves when they shouldn't have to. It almost seemed like they were showing off.

2 Pointers were going in at an almost constant rate if you didnt put a hand in their face. In real life, players miss open shots. With a decrease of 2 notches, Players will miss occasioanlly but not at a rate that pisses you off.

We know Derek FIsher is somewhat of a 3 pt. threat. In this game, if you give him 2 feet of space, he'll shoot it up and make it 80% of the time. WIth a decrease of 1 notch, you'll see a few more misses on open attempts, which is realistic..

I hope these new sliders help make this game even more enjoyable in the long run.

Re: Tweaked slider settings for Inside Drive 2003.

Hey Wally, for some reason, I just saw this post, and I'm going to try them out here soon. I have a big test tonight, so I feel there will be no ID in my future today . But from looking at your sliders, they look good. And I definitely agree with allowing the comp and you to make more shots than simmed games to make up for the lack of FT. I played about 5 games into my Lakers Franchise on default and noticed that I was really running with the ball and trying to get high percentage shots to make my scores reasonable. I was almost falling into the NBA2k3 way of playing.

My point is, is that I would really suggest moving the quarter length higher if you have your shooting sliders down like you do. Case in point: I was playing against the clippers, and they finished the game shooting nearly 50%, but only had 81 pts. I know that FG% and points aren't perfectly related, but for shooing that well, they should have more points, and the reason they didn't was they just didn't shoot as much (and had very few FT attempts). I, on the other hand, shot nearly 60% in the game and scored 116. Too high of a %, but the score was fairly realstic if a team is shooting well (maybe a notch above 50%.

Anyway, just my two cents worth. THank's a bunch for doing this, and I can't wait to try them out.

P.S. I don't think I would move the player speed slider any. It seems really perfect the way it is, and if you move it, it seems to slow everything down too much.
