Batting help (Real-Life Baseball)

Both last season and this season (I don't play in leagues, but play with friends and batting cages) I have been having a problem when hitting. I am a righty hitter and the thumb on my left hand right near the knuckle often gets a blister and/or the skin gets pulled off after hitting.

I wear batting gloves on both hands and can't figure out what I'm doing. Any suggestions at all? Is it something with the gloves? My grip? Should I just tape the area up before hitting?

Any help would be great...it takes away from my swing because I can feel the skin ripping when I hit, and the harder I swing, the worse it feels so I often don't swing properly.

Use tape and maybe loosen your grip slightly.

This is probably the best advice if you are getting blisters. If you have a tight grip, try to loosen it up. That's what's probably giving you the blisters for the most part.

1. try NOT using gloves, they might not fit correctly.
2. Check your grip. (align the knuckles)
3. like above, loosen the grip just a bit
4. If its the first month of doing this, it happens, they'll go away after a while.

I have batting gloves with a pad there. I think that is like the most common spot for blisters from hitting.

Re: Batting help (Real-Life Baseball)

Thanks for the suggestions...I do have a pretty tight grip, but I feel like if I loosen up, I may let the bat go. I'll have to experiment sometime.

I do use gloves that fit pretty snug....not too tight or loose. I am hitting great, but I start to slow down my bat speed as I feel the skin starting to get irritated/blistering.

I had this problem all last season too and it frustrated me then. I'll try buying some tape and see if that helps.
