Your Perfect Starting 5

Thought this would be an interesting discussion topic that we could throw around. The general Premise of the topic is to make the "Perfect" starting 5. when I say perfect I mean the starting 5 that (In your opinion) could work the best together. If your wondering why I put this topic out their, it is because I want other peoples input on the idea. That Being said here is my 5

Point Guard : John Stockton
Shooting Guard : Michael Jordan
Small Forward : Scottie Pippen
Power Forward : Tim Duncan
Center : Bill Walton

I've seen 4 out of the 5 play in my life time and I watched many classic NBA games throughout the years to get a good feel on Walton's game. I really think The lineup works well together. Thoughts? Opinions? Whats your starting 5?

Perfectly healthy and at the peak of their careers:

Point guard: Oscar Robertson
Shooting guard: Michael Jordan
Small forward: LeBron James
Power forward: Tim Duncan
Center: Yao Ming

Yao as my center simply because of his ridiculous height advantage he would have over almost everyone. Its easy to forget how dominant he was when he was completely healthy.

I feel Like Oscar wouldn't mesh well with the team but I like the other four. Concerning your point on Yao I would have to agree. Yao when healthy was a force.

Center: Hakeem Olajuwon

I like this to be my team for some reasons great defense, unselfishness and it has Michael Jordan on it.
Why John Stockton? I picked him because I think he is one tough guy in his size and the most unselfish guy in the NBA shoots only if he is really wide open. I was thinking of picking Magic but I like defense.
Why Michael Jordan? Greatest scorer of all time and arguably the GOAT.
Why Larry Bird? Like John Stockton he was unselfish, underrated defender, and will space the floor so well if you would double Jordan it's easy points.
Why Tim Duncan? Mr. Fundamental, great defender, possibly the greatest power forward of all time and he isn't done yet.
Why Hakeem Olajuwon? Great rim protector like Duncan, saw him dominate so many good-to-great centers.

PG - John Stockton, perfect combination of distribution and tough defense.
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Larry Bird, great passer and will get a lot of open looks, also provides a tough underrated defender.
PF - Karl Malone, great on the boards and doin the dirty work down low.
C- David Robinson, excellent athleticism at the position, doesn't need the ball in his hands on offense.

Really wanted a complete team without a lot of duplication in roles. Which is why players like Duncan, Olajuwon, Walton and other got passed up. On offense I've got the best pick and roll combo in history, the greatest one on one scorer in history, and the greatest shooter of all time. Defense, Stockton and Jordan will make life heck on the outside, and anyone that manages to drive to the paint will have to deal with two no nonsense bruisers.

Just for fun I've got a second five that'd be probably my most fun to watch play because they're going to run, run and then run some more, fly over anyone and fill the highlight reel:

PG - Steve Nash
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Vince Carter
PF - Dominique Wilkins
C - Amare Stoudemire

I agree with your point on Yao too, that healthy Yao used to outplay Dwight Howard every time they play each other.
