Game Recommendation

I just got the Driving Force GT steering wheel. I have been keeping an eye on the wheel in anticipation of Gran Turismo 5, which I believe is due out in late October/early November (fingers crossed). Anyway a deal too good to pass up came along so I pulled the trigger on the wheel. My question to the fine folks here at OS is what racing game would you recommend that wouldn’t cost me the $60 price tag for a new game? Ideally the cheaper the better, just to hold me over till GT 5. I know that there is no right answer but this is my first foray with the racing genre and that steering wheel is staring me in the face. My kids down loaded the Split Second demo but unfortunately the steering wheel doesn’t work with the demo or at least I could not figure out how to get it to work with the demo. I am a very casual Nascar fan and by no means a sim style racer. Thanks in advance for any help.

you might want to check out GT 5 prologue, if u bought the wheel in anticipation of GT 5. I haven't played it personally but it's basically a preview of GT 5. Not sure on the price either but I don't think it's 60 bucks i think its more in the 30-40 range.

Re: Game Recommendation

F-1 Championship, should be cheap now. DiRT 2 should probably be ~$40 now too.

Re: Game Recommendation

Grid was very good imo, and NFS Shift is very good with a steering wheel.

Re: Game Recommendation

I'd say BLUR it got a solid 8.0 on Gamespot. I kinda like the driving games that arn't as realistic.

-Driving is smooth and responsive -Weapons add a burst of energy to the standard racing action
-Rewards system makes game difficult to put down
-In-depth multiplayer mode is easy to lose hours to
-Wide variety of tracks and cars.

Re: Game Recommendation

I really liked the Blur beta, but since you are not looking to pay the $60 full price, I would recommend Midnight Club LA. The customization is very well done, the racing is fun, and the game is challenging, plus you can find it for around $30 now.
