Coming back to pc sim racing...what are the best sim racing pc games these days?

My new PC is being built right now. Still to dig my logitech steering wheel out the garage. Use to be mad on sim racing until 2009. What is the best game out these days? I have project cars on the ps4. Is this better than assetto and I racing etc ?

pcars is decent on pc for a single player experience(still buggy though). assetto corsa is fun if you race in a league but the single player experience is lacking.

if you are looking for online organized racing then iracing is your best bet. iracing's license system helps get rid of alot of wreckers once you get past the rookie license. The cost is a set back for alot of people but you can normally find a free 3 month trial to start with. If youre interested in iracing check out the iracing thread on this forum and youll see there are some active os'ers who race there.

any game specific questions? are you looking for an online experience or single player? or both?

Both to be honest. I used to play the simbin games online and had so much fun. I am not a wrecker lol. How much you talking for Iracing ?

Really depends on what you are going to be doing. If you start a 3-month right now, you can hit half price around Black Friday which'll set you back $50 a year. That way you can try it for 3 months and then decide to go longer.

As for cars/tracks, I'm really just sticking to ovals and stock cars and I figure I'll spend $250 give or take on DLC in order to race most of the schedules in the trucks, Xfinity car, and Sprint Cup car, and I'm really only doing a few series and there are some tracks I have no desire to race on at the moment because of lack of ability (road courses for instance). More you do, you'll get some track crossover, but you'll need a different car and potentially a few more tracks.

Wow that's a lot of money you've spent on dlc. That's like £150 over here... Wow!

If you think that's a lot, you'd freak out if you knew what some of us have spent.

That said, I still think it's the best sim out there. AC is pretty good, but it doesn't have oval racing which is what I race these days, and I prefer iRacing's multiplayer.

I haven't bought it yet. I've bought about a quarter of it and will probably buy another third or so this winter for testing. Depending on how next year goes, I'll buy the rest of the main tracks I need.

Yeah, I recently spent about $1000 dollars on just wheels and pedals for my setup. Not counting my 3 monitors or my custom built sim rig.

It's a great hobby but it can be expensive if you choose to go that route.
