I would doubt this - I think you should consider NBA 2K. It certainly hasn't done this. Modding isn't necessarily a given anyway, EA could easily curb its impact.

I don't agree with this at all, people reading should be given the chance to get correct information if it is at hand. I for instance wasn't aware of the emails until reading the correction.

For their team perhaps, but the dev team probably wouldn't be the ones deciding this so, no, not at the level the decision is being made. If 2K Sports can do it with a few of their titles, EA Sports...

Fewer resources makes perfect sense for a team making a game without any competition. They don't need to innovate to sell, just keep the core i.e. comp and online players happy.
